The Logistics & Converting Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the Shipping, Receiving, Material Handling, Service Center and Converting (Quality Slitting) Teams handling high value raw materials, window films, and industrial products. This position will utilize personnel, materials, and equipment to serve production and support department needs in San Diego while also overseeing shipment of goods to customers worldwide. The role manages teams responsible for the converting of master rolls and/or repurposing existing rolls of film to finished goods, receiving, storage, material handling, special services, and worldwide shipment of raw materials and finished goods. They are responsible for operational excellence via efficient QC Slitting, Service Center and warehouse design and function. They coordinate the transportation network within the business unit and handle domestic and international transportation requests to meet customer needs. Ensures inventory accuracy for materials in warehouse and ensures continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost and service utilizing WCM lean and Six Sigma tools. The position manages the San Diego Service Center and is responsible for the timely and accurate execution of services and shipments as ordered by customers. They will rely on their extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish the group's goals utilizing creativity as well as excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills. Manage the Quality Slitting department and is responsible for meeting safety, quality and cash objectives. Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Leadership of Quality Slitting, Warehouse, Receiving, and Service Center Teams. Ensures safety policies are followed by employees and carrier personnel when on site. Personnel coaching and creation of working processes and work instructions to maximize the success of the teams. Establishes budgets and meets cost objectives in the areas of materials and labor. Manages department personnel including hiring, promotions, recognition, discipline, and performance management. Plans, directs, and monitors the performance objectives of department personnel. Maintains an effective organization and harmonious work relations; ensures that department personnel are properly qualified and trained and that department activities are performed in compliance with ISO systems, State and Federal Hazmat requirements and EHS policies. Ensures all areas assigned are providing excellent customer service, this includes maintaining professional relationships with customers, both internal and external. Monitoring/maintaining forklift driver's certifications and training.
  • Develops and maintains effective converting and shipping processes and trains personnel to achieve On Time Shipment performance targets with shipments being error free and appropriately packed to survive journey. Trains personnel in the performance of pulling orders, strapping, wrapping and loading trucks and managing shipments utilizing FedEx, UPS, DHL and other freight companies as determined necessary. Responsible for order fulfillment of parcel, LTL, and container size orders for domestic and international shipments in the most cost effective way possible. Possesses knowledge of all relevant import/export requirements and procedures. Responsible for the evaluation and improvement of the transportation network while ensuring corporate carriers are used wherever possible. Assist in the negotiation of parcel, LTL, air and ocean freights. Generates reports on department performance to KPI's, corrective actions, and improvements. Acts as the facility Embargo Correspondent to ensure compliance in keeping with the region's policies.
  • Ensures the smooth operation of the San Diego Service Center. Supervise and train warehouse and delivery personnel to perform special services and meet customer needs. Cross-trains all employees for maximum efficiency of Service Centers, Shipping and Receiving.
  • Responsible for materials stored in the warehouse and ensures inventory accuracy goals are achieved by enforcing policies and procedures, completing daily cycle counts, investigating identified inventory discrepancies and reporting to Finance along with appropriate corrective actions are taken. Coordinate and lead the preparation activities and execution of the annual physical inventory in the warehouse.
  • Develops and maintains effective receiving processes to ensure timely and accurate receipt in SAP of all materials and items delivered to the San Diego facility. Provide support and coordinate storage arrangements to ensure a safe and functional warehouse and ensure returns are shipped/received within the acceptable timeframe. Required Qualifications Essential Requirements for the Position:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or logistics preferred; other fields acceptable.
    • Minimum five (5) years' progressive warehouse management experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
    • Minimum five (5) year's management experience in a distribution and warehouse operations environment supporting the receipt and shipment needs of both internal and external customers.
    • Knowledgeable of OSHA requirements, must have a strong commitment to safety practices & principles.
    • Knowledgeable of warehouse and transportation processes such as material handling, import/export, inventory control/cycle counting, typical shipping methods and procedures.
    • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft programs Excel, Power Point, and Project.
    • Excellent multitasking skills, ability to understand customer needs, processes, and prioritize immediate and improvement actions appropriately.
    • Experienced in analyzing and presenting data in graphical and other forms.
    • Ability to develop and give presentations to various levels throughout the organization.
    • SAP business software user experience.
    • Knowledge and ability to act as facility Embargo Correspondent.
    • APICS - Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD), preferred.
    • Lean/Sigma Certification, preferred.
    • Possess strong leadership skills, communicating and influencing skills, and problem solving skills.
