Diego Youth Services seeks a Program Coordinator in the TAY Housing
Program to be based at Spring Valley (home office) and Point Loma
(additional program office). This is a full time & exempt position
reporting to Program Manager.San Diego Youth Services: Who we

beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term
solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and
housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and
school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and
treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of
care or become homeless.We aim to:
- Meet the basic needs of youth. Hunger, poverty and youth
homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families
today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more
vital than food and shelter? We provide safe places to live and
long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community
centers and housing.
- Create positive connection. We help youth focus on positive
life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed
resources and services. San Diego Youth Services has long provided
foster homes and adoption support services for families considering
adopting a youth in the foster care system.
- Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe
and stable housing options, we offer support tohelp youth develop
the independent living skills necessaryto become self-sufficient
and keep off the streets.
- Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and
care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum
of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put
them at risk, includingcase management, counseling, mental health
treatment and educational support and resources.SDSY has a staff of
approximately 215 employees and 80 volunteers working across San
Diego County and an annual budget of approximately $22 million. You

DESCRIPTION HIRING FORTAY Housing offers transitional housing and
supportive services to transition aged youth (TAY) who are
homeless, at risk of being homeless within 14 days, are in extended
foster care system or former fosteryouth in after care. Youth live
independently in their own apartment with the support of the TAY
Housing Team. Youth are provided the opportunity to enhance their
independent living skills and secure safe and stable housingCONTEXT
OF THE POSITION Assist in program development, operation and team
decision making while supporting program outcomes. Provide
oversight of the housing, coordination of housing components, and
leasing aspect of TAY Housing Program.Essential functions
include:1. Contribute to the integrated trauma-informed approach
for youth, adhering to and upholding the rigorous standards of San
Diego Youth Services as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding
principles and standards of quality.2. Sustain SDYS's commitment to
family and youth driven care.3. Work collaboratively and
cooperatively with staff and supportive service providers within
the program, the agency, and the community.4. Welcome and support
volunteers in the organization and assist them in accomplishing
their services whenever applicable.5. Participate in all required
trainings and consultation/supervisions.6. Ensure contract
compliance and quality control of service delivery and
evaluation.7. Update and maintain service and client's policies and
procedures manual.8. Participate in annual planning and evaluating
of services9. Monitoring of accountability of documentation and
data collection systems to ensure contract expectations are met for
audits.10. Assist Program Manager in maintaining, insuring, and
controlling overall program quality,including service partner
confidentiality, treatment philosophy, and treatment style.11.
Assist with implementation of master leases between SDYS and
landlords/property management companies. Interface with
landlords/property managers at each apartment complex in our
scattered site program.12. Conduct outreach to youth and community
organizations serving foster youth13. Oversee intake and interview
procedures for youth moving into the program, including arranging
the moving of youth in and out of apartments. Must meet 90%
vacancy.14. Track youth's address, phone number, landlord/property
manager's name and phone number and copies of other pertinent
housing records.15. Cooperatively work with County programs
supporting foster youth, including COR, and maintain County based
electronic record, ETO.16. Discuss maintenance issues with
appropriate landlord/property manager to insure each unit is safe
and livable for THP youth. Work with SDYS Facilities Department to
provide youth apartments that meet safety needs, and are provided
in a timely manner to youth in need.17. Collect and track rent,
security deposits, utility payments, emancipation funds and other
fiscal program needs.18. Knowledgeable about tenant-landlord laws
and the Transitional Housing Misconduct Act.19. Maintain
confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partners'
protected health information and other applicable information and
material in accordance to agency and center policies, and
applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA.PREFERRED
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or
another closely related field required, master's degree
preferred.
- Experience with housing, Transitional Age Youth and/or foster
youth would be highly valued.
- Able to work in a very diverse setting with people of all
backgrounds, culture and orientation.
- Must possess a professional attitude and good oral and written
communication skills.
- Well organized, detail oriented, and ability to work with
minimum supervision and frequent interruptions, while maintaining a
professional demeanor at all times.
- Have the ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize
tasks.
- Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of
trauma-informed care.
- Must maintain CPR/First-Aid Certificate.
- Must have good driving record and willing to use own, properly
insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed).
- Must be willing and able to drive agency van (15 passenger) in
order to move youth in and out of apartments.
- Employment subject to CCL clearances, which include background
fingerprinting checks, driving record, Tuberculosis testing, and
