Position Summary
OII OTECH is seeking a Certification Inspector / Auditor who will
be required to comprehend specifications to determine if in-process
work, testing, procedures and equipment used meets applicable
standards associated with unique undersea systems and supporting
equipment. The candidate must be able to observe in-process work,
read dials and displays, compare results with specifications and
drawings and document non-conformance reports/material. Ability to
work with general instruction and supervision. This position will
also serve in a direct operational role embarked on working vessels
at sea.
Base pay range for this position is $38.00 to $45.00 per hour.
Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL
--- Responsible for observing in-process work accuracy and adequacy
to specifications.
--- Responsible for auditing work documents for first time
quality.
--- Ability to read drawings, comprehend specifications and
tolerances, read dial indicators and digital gages, compare results
with specifications and record test data, confer with engineers,
technicians and production personnel as necessary.
--- Demonstrate ability to perform dimensional checks and visual
verifications of fabricated and machined parts to acceptance
criteria.
--- Use measurement, test equipment and functional gages to
determine if work performed meets all stated requirements.
--- Validate the quality of work performed, machined and fabricated
parts and assemblies in terms of dimensional accuracy and visual
verification according to acceptance criteria.
--- Ability to review data supplied with parts to acceptance
criteria, such as: dimensional reports, traceability reports and
certificates of conformity.
--- Apply a range of techniques and standards under general
instruction.
--- Display competent professional communication and interpersonal
skills when exchanging information with peers and supervisors.
--- Ensures in date calibrated measuring equipment is used for
performing inspections.
--- Fill out nonconforming material reports and other required
records of inspection and tests.
--- Provide administrative and technical support services to the US
Government agencies during scheduled sustaining surveys. This
effort shall include, but not be limited to, supporting
requirements to respond to audit findings, and implement
recommended corrective actions.
--- Review Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) documentation and
conduct a receipt inspection for parts received and certify them
for use in system maintenance in accordance with applicable
guidance.
--- Provide administrative and technical support services during
quality assurance audits/surveillances.
--- Support quality initiatives such as process and product
characterizations that lead to continuous / cost improvements
--- Conduct benchmarking to develop more effective methods for
improving quality.
--- Lead and/or provide support to continuous improvement
initiatives and training on continuous improvement, as requested,
by other functional departments. This includes audits and
surveillances of operations, contracts, quality, purchasing, and
engineering departments.
--- Collect data and execute/conduct various analytical/statistical
analysis and interpretation as part of process improvements and
day-to-day support.
--- Produce written reports and make presentations.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
--- High school diploma or equivalent.
--- 2 - 3 years' experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience including the
following:
o General mechanical inspection with calipers, micrometers,
etc.
o MS Office (Word, Excel, Email).
o Blueprint reading skills.
o Knowledge of basic technical mathematics; inspection, measuring,
and test equipment; materials and processes; inspection
technology.
--- Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
--- U.S. Citizenship is required.
