As an AVP, Financial Reporting & Analytics, you'll have the chance to organize and direct the financial planning, reporting and analytics division while assisting the executive management team in forming strategic goals. Do you have what it takes?Responsibilities Supervise accounting staff of two.Develops the annual Operating Plan and oversees preparation of monthly financial statements.Develops financial strategies, investment objectives, liquidity positions, capital adequacy, new business ventures, financial policies, and strategic plans.Prepares financial reports including ALCO (Asset Liability Committee), ALM and ad-hoc reports.Participates and contributes in Credit Union ALCO committee meetings.Exercises discretion and independent decision-making to oversee the strategic financial planning and investing necessary to assist the growth of the credit union in a manner that supports the credit union's mission and increases the profitability of the organization.Performs analysis of the firm's interest rate, credit, liquidity, and concentration risk exposures, ensuring that the credit union operates safely, soundly and within policy limits.Ensures all financial statements, accounting and financial activities comply with GAAP and regulatory requirements.Prepares studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, business forecasts, and variance analysis for executive and board-level decision-making.Makes recommendations to the management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and strategies.Creates & maintains desktop procedures for financial modeling systems and critical tasks.Prepares financial statements and commentary summarizing organization's current financial position.Stay abreast of regulatory changes and share information as appropriate.Attends seminars, industry events and community events in support of professional and business development.Works with external auditors and government agency examiners to ensure the Credit Union is in compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and corporate policies/procedures.Selects, Develops & Manages Talent. Selects and retains talent with skills, abilities and behaviors that focus on results while cultivating the Credit Union's culture. Improves and reinforces performance in others and develops talent for critical positions and/or future leadership roles.Ensure employees are provided with effective feedback on their performance and their career that results in increased performance and commitment. Identifies & recommends learning/development opportunities for team members.Develop and cascade clearly defined goals and objectives for team members. Assure that the business plan is well communicated and understood by all. Conduct regular business update meetings to keep team abreast of business results and progress to date.Provide guidance and motivate others to work well together in accomplishing the team's purpose and objectives. Ensures goals are well understood and creates a collaborative environment. Oversees staff evaluations of departmental personnel in cooperation with directly reporting management.Effectively recruits, develops and supervises accounting staff for optimal performance.Establishes and maintains effective employee relations through objective setting, delegation and open communication.Conducts regular individual and group staff meetings and provide constructive feedback.Instill a "member first" cultural environment internally and externally.Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college in Accounting and 8 - 12 years related experience in financial and operational accounting is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of five years' supervisory experience required.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate, or other related professional certification, is preferred.Credit union or financial institution experience highly preferred. Strong experience with financial systems.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business issues, and extract relevant data from periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, is required. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is instrumental to success, and the ability to effectively present information (both verbal and written) and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and the general public, is also a requirement.Experience working with Microsoft Applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook along with analytical platforms such as PowerBI. Advance working knowledge of Excel is required. Ability to learn new applications quickly and general knowledge of network and database usage is required.Interpersonal skills including, but not limited to, motivating and influencing others, maintaining a significant level of trust and diplomacy, fostering internal and external business relationships.
