Job Description:
Job DescriptionThe Marketing Assistant will support the
Marketing and Communications Department by performing a broad range
of administrative duties that help the team maintain high
standards. This position will help the team coordinate, track and
manage department projects including procurement, deliverables and
system implementation. Essential duties include, but are not
limited to, the following: EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Essential Functions
Provides operations support for the Marketing Communications team,
who work in a high-profile, fast-paced environment to promote the
agency's top priorities. Manages workflow process for department
procurements. This includes collecting project bids, creating
purchase requisitions, tracking purchase orders, ordering with
vendors, coordinating deliveries and installations. Works with
staff to help organize the agency's marketing campaigns and
initiatives and supports project managers with planning, deadlines
and deliverables. Manages and tracks Marketing material
distribution including internal, onboard and public. Manages
vehicle wraps with vendors and the Bus and Trolley operations
teams. Manages and tracks agency memberships to various
organizations (i.e. San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, Gaslamp
Quarter Association, East Village Association, National City
Chamber of Commerce, South County EDC, etc.). Assists team members
with community outreach and media event coordination (i.e.,
creating and/or compiling outreach pack lists, researching and
securing food vendors, media services vendors, etc.). Organizes and
maintains promotional inventories, and tracks milestone marketing
campaigns and initiatives. Works with vendors to purchase agency
promotional items, outreach supplies, uniforms, and more; manages
inventory of such items. Assists Director in budget tracking and
reporting as needed. Proofreads and edits correspondence, reports,
contracts, forms, and a variety of other marketing materials as
needed. Reviews expense reports for consistency and compliance with
company policies. Possesses knowledge of Marketing Communications
best practices, policies and procedures. Completes special projects
as assigned by the Director.Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited

assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of
or ability to learn MTS policies and regulations; ability to read,
understand and apply MTS policies, regulations and union labor
contracts; ability to write letters, memoranda and reports using
clear, concise and grammatically correct English; ability to speak
clearly, distinctly and effectively in person-to-person or small
group situations using tact and diplomacy; ability to coordinate
and initiate actions necessary to implement decisions and delegate
responsibilities to appropriate personnel; ability to establish and
maintain priorities in order to complete assignments by deadlines
without detailed instructions; skill in verifying the accuracy and
completeness of forms and reports; knowledge of Microsoft Word and
Excel and the ability to learn and use other software that MTS
might have or acquire; comfortable interacting with MTS Directors,
managers, groups and industry professionals as well as the general
public; experience using project management software; experience
using business operations system software for workflow control;
experience or familiarity with SAP preferred. Physical
RequirementsThe successful candidate must be able to fulfill the
physical demands of the job such as walking, stooping, sitting,
bending, reaching for overhead files and occasional lifting (must
be able to lift up to 15 pounds). Must be able to operate a motor
vehicle and perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as use
of a computer. Work will at times require more than 8 hours per day
or an irregular work week to perform the essential duties of the
position. Duties will be performed primarily in an office type
environment and may require travel to external locations and
agencies.Experience/Education/Certificates/License(s)Possess a
bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A
minimum of three years of experience performing similar
administrative duties. Skills and abilities may be substituted for
the degree requirement. Must possess and maintain a valid
California driver's license.GENERAL: Must satisfactorily pass all
applicable examinations including, but not limited to, a
pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.SALARY
GRADE: # 5 ($38,130 - $68,592)
