Job Description:
We need a volunteer to help us develop a master marketing plan.
We are a relatively new nonprofit that has not invested heavily in
conventional or digital advertising. We post on social media, send
out a newsletter to members, and have dabbled in some old-school
advertising (e.g., event sponsorship), but those efforts have been
without an overall plan or means of measuring success. We are
looking for the following deliverables (in order of priority):
1. Audience identification and segmentation
2. Advertising strategy (including media types, frequency, portion
of a budget, etc)
3. Metrics development (what to measure, how to measure, guidelines
to measure success)
4. Whatever else you think is helpfulYou're a great fit for us if
you're passionate about our mission, you have a background in
creating a marketing plan, and you can spend ten hours over four to
six weeks on this project. To prepare for the project, we will
provide you with any data we have on our audiences, previous
marketing efforts, planned budget for a marketing plan, and
whatever else you need. This project is mission-critical to us as we
are hitting a wall with member recruitment. There's only so much
that word of mouth and having a location downtown will do for you.
We know there are others interested in what do/offer, and we need
help reaching those folks. A well-crafted marketing plan will help
us achieve our goals of increasing membership revenues to a level
that will put us on a path to financial sustainability. The project
would be a good investment of your time as a volunteer as it will
yield dividends in both the short and long term and plug a gap in
our capabilities as an organization. Our long-term vision is to
become "public access 2.0" by creating a place where everyday
people can contribute to the social conversation using the latest
digital video and audio technologies. We currently receive most of
our funding through a contract with the City of Longmont to be the
city's public access provider. That revenue is expected to fall
over time as cable subscriptions decline (the revenue from the city
is through a "franchise fee" that Comcast must pay the city under
federal communication laws). We have or will have put aside a
certain amount of the budget to spend each month on advertising
(exact amounts TBD). We have a paid Executive Director and a
full-time producer and are in the process of hiring contractors to
help with admin tasks. We also have a committed board of directors
to assist you with planning and a small army of volunteers. Our
