Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an
affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable
remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as
well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity within our MQ-9B Certification
group. Under general supervision with limited review, this position
is responsible for the Non-DoD Military Aircraft (NDMA)
Certification Sub-IPT. Additionally, this position is responsible
for project engineering support for the broader MQ-9B Certification
Integrated Product Team as well as supporting the growing
International Programs Certification activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Provide oversight of the NDMA Certification Sub-IPT and support
- Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Software Group
and System Safety Group.
- Develop and maintain NDMA Certification processes and
procedures, including writing compliance approach statements.
- As a member of the Certification IPT, provide systems
engineering support as follows:
- Coordinate certification efforts with Subject Matter Experts
(SMEs), Certification Verification Engineers (CVEs), Office of
- Draft and review compliance declaration sheets and compliance
summary reports, review certification artifacts, and track and
status certification requirement verification tasks.
- Coordinate with other International Programs to ensure
alignment in Certification activities across the MQ-9B
- Coordinate with functional design engineers from various
technical areas to solve relevant certification issues and keep
certification efforts on track and within program scope.
- Provide documentation and make technical presentations as

engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited
institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four
or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree or two or more
years of experience with a master's degree.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts,
principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad
application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of
principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly;
apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize,
schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the
appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the
project level to provide solutions to a range of complex
- Must have excellent verbal/written communication, computer,
documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to
work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex
tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced
professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
- Experience with critical thinking and creative problem solving
in a fast paced environment is desired.
- Knowledge of design criteria, tools and databases,
manufacturing and quality, operation and maintenance manuals, and
configuration management is desired.
- Background in aviation qualification and certification is

- Experience with Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value
Management (EVM) is desired.
- Able to work extended hours and to travel to flight test
facilities in Southern California and Arizona as required.
