(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.We have an exciting opportunity for an RF Data links Project Engineer to support our Army Engineering Group in San Diego, CA.Under general supervision with limited review, this position supports the Army Datalinks group within Army Aircraft Project Engineering and is responsible for technical and project leadership with initial focus on leading and coordinating system-level design for the Army datalink system. Major areas include technical leadership of multiple engineering disciplines, subcontractor technical management, lab evaluation of vendor and GA-ASI products, and coordinating with the aircraft IPT team for the datalink system design, integration, and flight test.Duties and Responsibilities:* Join a group of RF datalink engineers in supporting the Army datalink roadmap and multiple datalink projects. Coordinate segments of a project and have frequent inter-organization contact on difficult technical issues.* Brief management about the project's progress, status, plan and make technical presentations.* Coordinate and interface with customers on requirements, document findings, and communicate results to the corresponding engineering groups.* Support System Integration Lab (SIL) and Flight Test for HW / SW integration and testing of datalink and RF functions. Develop engineering test plans, procedures, and reports for moderate size / complexity tasks.* Apply technical knowledge to support the engineering staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of datalink and engineering tasks of large scope / complexity, and contribute with technical management of subcontractors.* Ability to communicate effectively with other Engineering disciplines, Program Management and subcontractors peers.* Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.* Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.Job Qualifications:* Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, two or more years of experience with a Master's degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.* Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.* Must have prior experience with writing technical requirements, specifications, Statement-of-Work (SOW).* Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas.* Must be willing to work in a lab environment and have hands on experience working with test equipment. Must have good RF datalink trouble shooting skills.* Must have prior in-depth experience in at least one of the following areas:* Satellite communications systems, RF communication systems, tactical datalinks (TCDL), military RF networks* Military modems, antennas, radios, VHF/UHF communication* Must have experience with RF systems analysis including link budgets, noise analysis, gain budgets, modulation/demodulation signal analysis, error correction coding.

* Must be able to work extended hours and/or travel if required to complete the assigned tasks.* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.* U.S. citizenship required.
