Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking an Industrial Engineer 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at the Rancho Carmel Facility in San Diego, CA.

Our expertise is in delivering complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is in the world of avionics, radio, and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's Communications business unit, we are the 'equipment providers.' Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

This role is in the Operations organization and will report to the Digital Transformation department head overseeing Process Engineering, Industrial engineering, and technologies supporting Operations. The focus of this organization is in adding value and accelerating the manufacture of products. This department is focused on modernizing and innovating the manufacturing and operations practices of the San Diego campuses to achieve strategic objectives and further differentiate the San Diego campuses from its competitors.

Industrial Engineer
Analyzes production processes and output quality to improve efficiencies in production yields and throughput; develops work measurement systems and reports performance; maintains labor standards; performs ergonomic studies, safety initiatives, facility layout, capacity analysis, and process simulation; supports capital equipment studies and proposal activity. Defines and executes process improvement projects aligned with business strategies. Leads all Lean and 5S initiatives for the production facility, including facilitating and coaching improvement teams. Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals.

Requires interface and coordination with other Production support departments as well as regular interface with multiple levels of management. Basic knowledge of Shop Floor Control systems is desired. Background in supporting technical disciplines in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering is a plus. Candidate must have proficient writing, presentation, and team skills as well as the ability to conduct presentations to upper management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum relevant experience
  • BS in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or other related technical field
  • 6 Sigma / Lean professional certification and/or proven experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, and Power Point, and Simul8 or comparable simulation software
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearancePreferred Qualifications:
    • MS in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or other related technical field
    • Experience in capacity analyses, manpower modeling, and facility planning
    • Prior experience leading Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives
    • Working experience in SAP
    • Project planning and management experience for moderately complex tasks
    • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
    • Experience with SAP or other shop floor control system

      Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD

      Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
