Works in a variety of settings to build systems that collect,
manage, and convert raw data into usable information for data
scientists and business analysts to interpret. Their goal is to
make data accessible so that organizations can use it to evaluate
and optimize their performance. Designs, builds, and oversees the
deployment and operation of technology architecture, solutions and
software to capture, manage, store and utilize structured and
unstructured data from internal and external sources. Establishes
and builds processes and structures based on business and technical
requirements to channel data from multiple inputs, route
appropriately and store using any combination of distributed
(cloud) structures, local databases, and other applicable storage
forms as required.
Job Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain a scalable ETL pipeline- to support
Machine Learning developments
Develop and troubleshoot SQL code, stored procedures, functions,
tables, and views
Experience in extracting and analyzing data from multiple data
sources.
Research, evaluate, and determine best fit of tools and techniques
for data storage, data mining, data transformation, and data
integration
Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable data solutions
Collaborate with external functional organizations for data and
system understanding
Consult with customers and stakeholder to clearly define needs and
objectives
Communicate project status and results to various levels of
leadership
Basic Qualifications for Principal Data Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) field and 5 years of experience in Data
Engineering; OR a Masters degree in Science, Technology,
Engineering or Mathematics with 3 years' experience
Proficiency in MS SQL Server, SQL queries, scripting, and
automation
Experience building and maintaining Extraction Transfer Load (ETL)
and data migration pipelines
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++ Working
knowledge of Python ETL libraries (Pandas, SQL Alchemy)
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security
Clearance
Preferred Qualifications for Principal Data Engineer:
Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Data
Science
Experience building REST API and web-programming (Django, Flask,
javascript)
Working knowledge in statistical modeling, data mining and machine
learning (sklearn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
Experience with AWS (EC2, Glue, and Lambda)
DevOps development experience Linux, HPC, cloud (AWS), Docker
Experience building visualizations (Tableau, matplotlib,
seaborn)
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
Experience in Agile Software Development
Active Secret/ Top Secret Security Clearance
Salary Range: $104,600.00 - $157,000.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
