Job Description:
Overview
The position of Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will interface
with key functions of GD-OTS and the supply base for the purpose of
verifying their quality standards align to the requirements GD-OTS.
This position will serve as a liaison with suppliers to drive
structural quality and process improvements, to prevent issues that
could impact Product Quality and/or On-time Delivery.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to develop and
maintain -an effective Supplier Selection and Approval process, and
recommend disqualification of suppliers when poor performance
results dictate.
- Participate with Engineering and Supply Chain, in the
identification of strategic suppliers and their associated
risks.
- Perform onsite Quality System Surveys to determine supplier
suitability and capability.
- Perform onsite Source Inspection to support GD-OTS flow down
requirements.
- Coordinate Process Change Requests (PCR) with suppliers, assist
with submittals.
- Drive proactive Continuous Improvement within the supply chain
base, based upon Quality and Delivery performance trends.
- Monitor the performance of the CAPA system. Engage in regular
CABs, and follow up with suppliers based upon open actions and
those actions requiring follow up.
- Ensure metrics for supplier quality are developed, maintained
and reviewed to promote continued and sustained success.
- Manage supplier quality issues through monitoring and
escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier
non-conforming material and supporting internal MRB
processes.
- Develop and maintain close lines of communication with
Suppliers in order to foster and promote partnering
relationships.
- Provide technical support with NPI projects when planning for
product & process realization
- Develop and maintain a Supplier - Sub-tier Audit / Surveillance
Program, which includes coordinating GD and customer product,
process and system audits.
- Reviews new contract quality clauses to ensure compliance or
renegotiate as appropriate.
- Participate and engage in CCB and MRB processes, provide
technical support when required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- BS or BA relevant to the operation of a product development and
manufacturing environment. 5-8 years' experience in multiple
disciplines relevant to Quality Systems Engineering, including;
previous AS 9100 QMS knowledge and possess AS 9100 Auditor
certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Lean Manufacturing
experience strongly desired
- PMP/PMI training or planned certification strongly
desired
- Must be able to interpret technical drawings in accordance with
ANSI Y 14.5
- Must have working knowledge of a CAB and principal rules and
operating guidelines of an MRB engaged in defense and/or aerospace
contracts
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common
scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively
present information to top management and public groups is
required.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply statistical mathematical
operations to such tasks as reliability and validity, analysis of
variance, correlation techniques, and sampling.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Candidate for this position must be able to commit to 50%
travel.
Pay Range (USD) $100,176.95 - $150,265.41
Additional Compensation Hired applicant may be eligible to
participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
