Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with 8 plus years of experience who is passionate about their craft, wants to work on a high-functioning team, and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multi-discipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun.

You would be providing our clients with automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, life-safety code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis and special inspection as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research. May plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the professional work as part of a major project or for a total project of moderate scope. May supervise or coordinate the work of other professionals who assist in specific assignments.

Qualifications

Duties and Skills:

• Design and specify basic systems without continuous oversight.
• Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
• Perform consulting services for internal clients, utilizing Fire Protection Engineering technical skills, including but not limited to: automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm and communication system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.
• Design and specify basic systems without continuous oversight
• Work independently and supervise the efforts of a small team.
• Manage and participate in multiple projects simultaneously and profitably.
• Maintain a working relationship with clients.
• Meet with Clients or Contractors at their office or project site to discuss the work.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Possess basic level computer skills necessary for daily activities including Microsoft Outlook email, Word, Excel, graphics, and a working knowledge of computer-aided drafting, Revit, and fire dynamic simulation for Fire Protection Engineers.
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned. Education and Experience:
  • BS degree in engineering or related science from accredited college or university
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Fire Protection Engineering (consulting)
  • EIT, NICET III, and PE preferred
  • General building construction knowledge
  • Experience working with AutoCAD or Revit is preferred Expected Salary Range: $108,800.00 to $128,000.00.
