This position supports the CVN Project Office supporting the maintenance and modernization of aircraft carriers in San Diego, California. #LI-JG1What You Will Do

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Overseeing all repairs, maintenance projects, modernization, planning and schedule performed by MSR's/Contractors during the ships maintenance availability period.
    • Regularly attend daily production meetings with Ship Force, TYCOM, and other contractors to communicate, de-conflict and determine the status of work items during availability execution.
    • Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the repair and modernization process for assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR) including defining the project scope, goals and deliverables that support build strategy and key event schedule.
    • Review work specifications, drawings, technical manuals and test requirements to determine and evaluate contractor compliance, progress and work quality.
    • Manage assigned production trades in accomplishment of the production effort required by the work package to meet schedule, inclusive of specified milestones.
    • Assess all new and growth work to ensure funding is authorized and work is integrated and achievable within schedule.
    • Supervising Ship Superintendents and reviewing / approving timesheets, ensuring assigned training is complete and conducting annual evaluations.What You Must Have
      • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
      • Being a Ship Superintendent.
      • Providing operational and technical support to Supervisors, Contractors, and Production Department in conducting complex planning and execution of repairs, and modernization services and emergent maintenance. -
      • Successful execution of CVN ship repair work packages.
      • Preparing and submitting status reports.
      • Assessing project issues and developing mitigation plans to keep projects on schedule.
      • In-depth knowledge of ship repair and operations with a clear understanding of all types and phases of work.
      • Ability to read and interpret NAVSEA Standard Items, Blueprints, Technical Manual References, and Work Specifications, and Work Orders.
      • Conducting thorough reviews of work specifications, job requirements, reference drawings/LARs prior to the start of each project.
      • Preparing production requirements for Kick-Off Meetings, Production Team Meetings.
      • Highly knowledge with Work Authorization Form (WAF) and NAVSEA Standard Items (NSI) processes and requirements.
      • Maintaining and upholding NAVSEA standards and associated references, requirements and records in accordance with DoD guidelines.
      • Reviewing work specifications, drawings, technical manuals and test requirements to determine and evaluate contractor compliance, progress and work quality.
      • Ability to multi-task.
      • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and ships access.
      • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Physical Requirements May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Why HII
