The Child and Adolescent Services Research Center (CASRC) is part of the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego and physically located at Rady Children's Hospital. CASRC researchers study the implementation of evidence-based practices for children with a range of mental health and developmental problems in community care settings. Under direction, the incumbent will act as the Project Manager for studies related to community-based implementation of evidence-based interventions for children with childhood mental health problems and/or autism spectrum disorder served in mental health and school settings within the Department of Psychiatry. These projects include the TEAMS study multi-site study testing the use of leader and provide level implementation strategies on the implementation of two ASD interventions - AIM HI in mental health programs and CPRT in schools, as well as the 4KEEPS/ECCA projects examining the sustainment of multiple evidence-based practices for children being implemented through the LA County Department of Mental Health. Position requires experience in community trial management, data safety and monitoring, and privacy and data security regulatory compliance. The Project Manager will be responsible for implementation of the study, directing the research work of lab members performing intervention, assessment, training and other research studies, including implementing designs and procedures, processing data analysis pipelines and creating final study databases. Incumbent will be responsible for daily supervision of research team members. This will include directing personnel matters, including development of job descriptions, screening, interviewing and hiring staff, conducting performance evaluations, provide staff evaluations, and supervise performance improvement issues, ensuring compliance with University policy. Will meet regularly with the Principal Investigator, co-investigators, study directors, and research project personnel to determine strategic initiatives necessary to meet project objectives and to ensure necessary progress of study components. Prepare and present status reports; Provide recommendations and innovative approaches to surmounting project obstacles and barriers to successful attainment of project goals. Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of studies to determine if expected enrollment goals are being met and, put in place corrective measures to enroll more eligible participants. Contribute important original ideas pertaining to the planning, development, modification, and execution of new research studies and ancillary studies. Participate in formulating incentive strategies to elicit desired behavior change in volunteer study participants. Manage/coordinate multiple components of projects involving the collaborative research team including the Principal Investigator, faculty co-investigators, data managers, and other support staff. Incumbent will be required to oversee study protocols and coordinate data safety and monitoring and human subject protections across multiple studies as well as coordinate with research committees across California Counties and school districts and ensures that all data collection and protocol complies with IRB and local/state privacy and data security regulations. Incumbent will have scientific responsibilities around the design, implementation, and completion of studies, including training staff and community providers in behavioral intervention strategies, training and supervision of staff conducting assessments and management of data collection and analyses. Lastly, the Project Manager will deliver the Leadership and clinical interventions which are the focus of the study. The Project Manager will provide support and ensure grant deadlines are met. Assess grant application objectives and planning strategies under which proposal objectives will be attained. Experience writing grant applications and grant funded projects is preferred. Incumbent will be asked to write and coordinate major portions of research proposals broadly outlined by the Principal Investigator. Write major portions of scientific manuscripts applying knowledge and understanding of the science and research projects relating to autism spectrum disorder. Perform all the duties and responsibilities as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ====================== * Bachelor's degree in related area. * Must have a Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society or obtain within one year in position. * Five or more years of relevant experience. * Demonstrated project management skills. * Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Effectively uses campus' clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems. * Demonstrated advanced knowledge and understanding of the science and research projects relating to Autism, and demonstrated expertise necessary to present clear, consistent, logical scientific arguments and to justify proposal budgets. * Thorough understanding of the translation of evidence-based practices for children with autism into community settings; extensive knowledge of and experience with previous AIM HI and CPRT community effectiveness studies. * Strong demonstrated complex behavioral and community engagement techniques for the study and improvement of care for autism spectrum disorder and in making important original contributions pertaining to this research. * Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee the daily operations of a lab; extensive experience in planning, coordinating, and directing the scientific work of subordinate staff; proven ability to coach and train staff and community providers; willingness to share information and serve as a mentor. * Demonstrated advanced and detailed knowledge of topic areas (early intervention, autism intervention, parent education, services research) and studies in order to apply expertise to current projects and proposal development. * Advanced knowledge of and experience in assessing grant application objectives and planning strategies under which proposal objectives will be attained; taking charge of writing and coordinating major portions of research proposals broadly outlined by the Principal Investigator. * Demonstrated ability to design experiments, to develop, validate and/or adapt methodological approaches needed for multidisciplinary intervention research projects, and to provide significant independent contribution and ideas. * Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, analyze situations, solve problems, and initiate actions for effective program and project management. * Demonstrated experience providing work direction to others including performance evaluation, recruitment and hiring/release of staff and working knowledge of dealing with personnel and disciplinary matters of others. * Demonstrated leadership skills sufficient to handle all aspects of project management, including providing work direction to lab staff, undergraduates, graduates and postdocs; financial accountability; safety; security; confidentiality; successful collaborator with community agencies; and organizational methods. * Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with a variety of personalities at all levels of the organization, exercising tact, mature judgment, diplomacy, and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness. Skill at negotiating with various personalities and developing internal and external network of contacts. * Proven ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including professional and non-professional staff and research subjects. * Excellent writing skills with demonstrated experience contributing to scientific research proposals and writing papers for publication. * Knowledge of proper formats, grammar, and spelling in English and proofreading ability sufficient to compose, edit, and publish professional correspondence and information without errors. * Strong demonstrated experience in taking charge of writing and coordinating major portions of research proposals broadly outlined by the Principal Investigator and writing major portions of scientific manuscripts applying knowledge and understanding of the science and research projects relating to autism spectrum disorders. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ======================== * Advanced degree. SPECIAL CONDITIONS ================== * Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. * Position will be located at Rady Children s Hospital. * Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional overtime and evenings/weekends. * Clearance must be obtained for special Background Check including National Criminal Database Search. * Annual TB test, flu vaccination and background check required to be in accordance with Rady Children s Hospital health requirements.
