This position serves as A/R, Cash & Banking Manager in A/R and Cash
Operations ---a division of Business & Financial Services. This
position provides oversight for full cycle cash accounting and
accounts receivable management including day to day operations
management. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis, and
reporting of accounting data and revenue. Oversees collections,
payment application, and accounts receivable operations and serves
as the control point between campus and UCOP, banks, and UC San
Diego cash handling and control management officers. Provides
guidance, training and support to financial officers and campus
liaisons involved in accounting for cashiering, banking activities,
credit cards, and accounts receivable
This position designs policy and procedures, as well as, leads the
team of supervised staff's effort to provide accounting support and
policy guidance to UC San Diego departments. Develops, implements,
upgrades and maintains numerous accounting and control processes
and automated systems to facilitate the processing of accounting
information, its analysis and reporting. Responsible for records
maintenance; Participates in team and work group activities and in
accounting and systems special projects. This position operates
with substantial latitude for independent action and decision
making in its major functional responsibilities. Assigns, directs,
and reviews work of designated staff, perform personnel supervision
and direction to meet both Unit and Division goals and objectives.
As a member of the A/R & Cash Operations Leadership Team, incumbent
is responsible for developing and implementing divisional strategic
plans and objectives.
* Effort outside of the normal 40 hour workweek, plus overnight
travel, may occasionally be required.
* Vacation time may be restricted during fiscal year end closing
activities (mid-June through mid-September).
* A Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience in a related area.
* Advanced knowledge of accounting function. In-depth knowledge of
accounting principles (including GAAP& GASB Accounting), theory and
practice, and knowledge and experience in applying fund accounting
* Strong leadership experience and skills to provide positive
guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional, support staff and
* Proven ability to analyze and summarize complex accounting data,
perform complex reconciliations, resolve complex accounting
problems, prepare financial statements.
* Demonstrated knowledge of audit techniques and internal control
* Proven ability to effectively present complex accounting and
finance related information verbally and in writing.
* Advance experience using financial transactions and systems, as
well as related policy, accounting, and unique regulatory
compliance requirements. Advanced systems skills.
* Advanced knowledge of common desktop/web applications.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
service orientation skills
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and six (6) years of
professional level accounting experience; or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
Advanced Degree and/or Professional Certification (CPA license)
General knowledge and/or experience with Oracle Financial Cloud
