Job Description - ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-GREEK LIFE (T181466) ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-GREEK LIFE - ( T181466 ) The Assistant Director for Fraternity--Sorority Life will support all programs andevents falling within Fraternity--Sorority Life.--This includes butis not limited to, all formal recruitment and intake processes, new membertrainings, and a Presidents roundtable series. A successful candidate willcollaborate closely with other areas within the University on programminginitiatives, hazing prevention education and campus-wide events.--The person in this position will serve as amember of various committees and task forces within the UAB community. Asuccessful candidate should be able to perform administrative duties, includingmanaging an annual operating and maintaining current website content. Responsibilities: Assess the developmental needs of the student leaders withinFraternity Sorority Life to includegoverning council leadership, chapter leadership and Order of Omega Demonstrate culturally inclusive advising,supporting, coaching and counseling strategies for the students in thisarea Provide training and on-goingcommunication to chapter advisors to increase advising and helping skills Develop virtual programs and initiatives tomeet the needs of students with limited access to on site services Assess the organizational needs of the fourgoverning councils Actively advise twoof the four governing councils within the FSL community Hold regular one on one meetings with councilleadership, attend weekly council meetings, and oversee any sponsored councilprograms and events Serve as primaryadvisor and point of contact for all recruitment/intake efforts for thesegoverning councils Develop andfacilitate educational workshops for council officers, general membership andchapter advisors addressing relevant student and community issues Establish best practices for increasingstudent success indicators; aiding in the management, compilation, anddistribution of statistical information and database reports; assisting inappropriately address and resolve conduct and risk management incidents;assisting with the management of council portals on Engage Contribute actively to the development of aculture of evidence within the Office of Student Involvement--Leadership by providing AER training,advocacy and incorporating AER into practice within the area of Fraternity Sorority Life Educate stakeholders about the relationshipof departmental AER processes to learning outcomes and goals at the student,department, and divisional level Designdata efforts that are ongoing, sustainable, rigorous, unobtrusive andtechnologically current Effectively useassessment and evaluation results in determining FSL's accomplishment of itsmission/goals, re-allocation of resources and advocacy for more resources Assist with conduct enforcement and educationof University policies and guidelines as well as municipal, state and federallaws to organizations within Fraternity Sorority community-- Overseeimplementation of online hazing prevention modules and chapter assessment toensure chapter compliance Supervise theCoordinator for Fraternity SororityLife, a full time professional staff member within the Office of StudentInvolvement Leadership May perform other duties as assigned Annual Salary Range: $38,209.60 - $60,0080 Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.-- Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Master's degreestrongly preferred with a concentration in College Student Personnel, HigherEducation Administration, Leadership or a related field
  • Membership in a Greek organization
  • Knowledge of the social change model ofleadership--
  • Exemplary organizational skills with a strong emphasis ondetails
  • Experience in advising studentorganizations
  • Ability to presentleadership workshops and training sessions that address values-basedleadership--
  • Ability to supervise both student and professional staff--
  • Excellentcommunication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills--
  • Strong computer skills using Windows,Microsoft Word, and Excel
