AlivaMab Discovery Services ("ADS") seeks an outstanding individual with strong experience leading therapeutic antibody discovery projects for the position of Senior Scientist / Associate Director located in San Diego. This candidate should be a motivated team player, able to handle multiple projects while working in an exciting, fast-paced environment, to discover the next generation of breakthrough antibody drugs. The Senior Scientist / Associate Director will report to the VP of R&D and work closely with the Antibody Discovery and Protein Sciences teams.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Antibody lead generation to support biologics programs using immunization-based technologies across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Manage multiple discovery projects at different phases, simultaneously
    • Interact with clients and prepare and report scientific updates
      • Organization of day to day experiments and timely updating of experimental files
        • Remain up-to-date on advanced technologies for antibody discovery and actively apply new concepts as appropriate to continuously improve functional area capabilities
          
          Qualifications
          
          Qualifications:
          
          • PhD in biology, biochemistry, immunology and familiar with antibody therapeutic discovery and development
          • At least 6 years of relevant industry experience
            • Expertise in antibody discovery, such as hybridoma generation or B-cell cloning in a drug discovery setting
            • Previous experience, or strong interest in managing direct reports with a proven track record of developing careers
              • Experience communicating scientific and/or technical concepts with an emphasis on commercial applications
                • Experience with multiple immunization strategies and antibody discovery platforms
                  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
                  • Experience leading antibody discovery projects, will be a hands-on manager of direct reports and may need to work at the bench as needed is preferred
                    • Assay development experience, stable cell line generation/cell sorting, general cell and molecular biology skills is preferred
                      
                      The successful applicant should be prepared to work in a high-energy, goal- and timeline-driven environment. Good internal and external collaborative abilities are required, including excellent listening and creative problem solving. The successful applicant will be high functioning in an environment dedicated to exceptional quality and integrity. Excellent communication skills and being able to present in front of external audiences is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and GraphPad Prism is required.
