Viasat is seeking a talented Tax Manager to support our explosive
growth. In this position, you will play an important role in
actively preparing and reviewing the global income tax provision,
U.S. federal and state income tax returns, and performing proactive
tax research and planning to support Viasat's intense further
global proliferation with ViaSat-3's global constellation of
satellites. Because you are a key member of the corporate tax team,
you will communicate across all levels of the organization and gain
a solid understanding of the business operations and functions.You
will leverage your strong working knowledge of tax laws,
regulations, GAAP and financial concepts.Specific responsibilities
- Significant focus and "hands-on" engagement in the quarterly
global income tax provision (ASC 740), including preparation and
review of the deferred tax schedule, current income tax provision,
payable schedule and tax account rollforwards, FIN 48 calculations,
valuation allowance, and financial statement footnote
- Identify and monitor potential tax issues that may impact tax
provisions and tax returns and prepare tax memoranda to document
tax analyses, conclusions, and recommendations for
- Responsible for assessing and determining income tax accounting
consequences related to the adoption of GAAP accounting
pronouncements, purchase accounting, indefinite reinvestment
assertion, valuation allowance, interim reporting, etc.
- Assist with preparation and review of U.S. consolidated federal
and state corporate income tax returns, including U.S.
- Assist with U.S. federal and state income tax audits.
- Assist on complex tax projects partnering across the business,
acquisitions, finance organization, and global tax team.
- Have a leadership role in the design and implementation of tax
compliance software and tax provision software upgrades.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to tax team members to
maximize employee engagement and provide opportunities for
development and growth Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 4 years working for a Big 4 Accounting Firm
- Minimum of 8 years of accounting firm and / or corporate tax
- Extensive tax technical knowledge and experience in accounting
for income taxes (ASC 740)
- Must be detail oriented with strong problem solving,
documentation, and organizational skills
- Strong research and writing, Excel modeling, and oral
communication skills Preferences
- Certified Public Accountant
- Master's in Taxation
- Specific knowledge and strong experience with income tax
