As the Director for the U.S. Department of Defense, Intel Community, Federal Service Integrators, and Insider Threat Security Programs, your goal is to lead and deliver the strategic development and execution of comprehensive cyber security programs, in a partnership model for key clients. In addition, this role will also require you to engage our relevant customers to inform, assess, and deliver cyber security strategies, frameworks and policies within the cyber domain with a keen knowledge of geo-political and cultural influences.

You represent Mandiant's cyber and government subject matter expertise in alignment with Mandiant's strategy. You will be the trusted adviser to specific clients and agencies regarding current cybersecurity capabilities, mission risks, and the cyber threat landscape. This role includes a commitment to a certain amount of travel with a proven ability to operate and deliver effectively and autonomously in a leadership capacity to coordinate deployed operational resources, to navigate political environments and to draw a multi-skilled workforce together while maintaining a clear focus on strategic and project delivery models.

You will work closely with Regional Sales leaders and account managers to understand their account mix and sales opportunities, identifying customer requirements and articulating our value and experience. You will identify the capacity and capabilities needed for successful delivery and execution, working closely with our Global Government and regional practices in the allocation of delivery resources and building a team of program managers and FTEs in line with the business growth.

As one of our Government cyber security leaders, you will also brief senior executives on threats to their environment based on Mandiant's wealth of threat intelligence.

We encourage giving back to the community and strongly support sharing of expertise through authoring whitepapers and speaking at conferences.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, sound business acumen, consultative and current technical skills, and be adept in leading and overseeing multiple programs under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the strategy and execute the delivery of cybersecurity mission support outcomes via holistic and custom end-to-end solutions and offerings based on Mandiant's entire security platform
  • Develop and implement cyber security mission assurance and operational support capabilities
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients seeking to enhance their security capabilities, mature their organization, and plan for horizon influencers
  • Develop and lead programs to deliver cyber security related strategies, frameworks and policies for priority customers
  • Evaluate client needs and coordinate the development of strategic designs and implementations of macro cyber approaches and clearly communicate the value proposition of those approaches based on personal experience and expertise
  • Provide guidance on development of relevant strategic offerings, processes and procedures (as required) related to cyber strategy and policy tailored to the region; collaborate and integrate these offerings with the broader Mandiant - as required; promote and build awareness of cyber policy activities internally and externally through various mediums (including training, forums, committees, whitepapers, blogs and webinars etc)
  • Assess the maturity level of client organizations against best practices and drive desired security program and architecture transformation
  • Provide strategic guidance and trusted advisory services to assist in the development and execution of roadmaps for short and long-term security capabilities
  • Intuitively and proactively understand client concerns and facilitates escalation to the appropriate resources to address and resolve each situation
  • Operate as a client advocate to ensure all program and delivery issues are resolved and the client experience is enhanced
  • Build and strengthen client and partnership relationships
  • Serve as a client advocate internally within Mandiant - to provide the right contact points and solutions to assist in solving the client's problems
  • Develop and grow your business area using your expertise and relationship management skills in close partnership with your leadership team and the sales force as required for long term profitability
  • Build and lead your team as required, displaying effective management and leadership skills while growing and mentoring your team members
  • Undertake your responsibilities as part of the Global Government team under the guidance and direction of the Managing Director of Cyber security programs.

    Qualifications
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience leading complex cybersecurity programs and initiatives
    • At least 5 years of experience in cyber threat management - CTI or IR - and insider threat security
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and execute in a methodical and disciplined manner while enabling a multi-disciplined workforce.
    • Significant experience assessing and developing cyber security solutions and programs across multiple security domains including operational mission support
    • Prior experience accessing and building information security programs for enterprise and/or government clients
    • Strong organizational skills; will require tracking of progress and outstanding issues across multiple projects
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Thorough understanding of network protocols and operating systems
    • Ability to successfully interface with C-suite level clients (internal and external)
    • Ability to document and explain technical details in a concise, understandable manner
    • Ability to convey results clearly in formal technical reports and deliver briefings
    • Ability to understand client's current mission drivers, challenges, tactical and strategic direction and provide relevant cyber security solutions
    • Demonstrable experience identifying mission risks and devising solutions to combat critical national infrastructure and public sector focused threats
    • Significant experience advising clients on security programs such as incident response, mission support, cyber threat intelligence, security operations, data protection and security architecture.
    • Ability to perform and oversee program and project management functions including status reporting, staffing, and team building and development
    • Experience in performing engagement enablement including scoping engagements, structuring customized engagements based on client's request, proposal writing, and drafting statements of work
    • Exceptional written and oral communications skills; proven experience articulating security and risk-related concepts to all audiences, including senior executives
    • Proven ability to successfully interface with and establish rapport with customers and internal stakeholders, at senior and executive levels
    • Ability to use formal project management skills in planning, tracking, and reporting on project progress
    • Ability to set and manage expectations with senior stakeholders and team members
    • Previous employment in government in the cyber and information security domains.

      Required Skills And Experience
      • Extensive government and insider threat security experience in information security and leading cyber operations and delivery capabilities
      • Experience with leading, developing and managing cyber security competencies, such as incident response programs, information security programs, threat intelligence, threat analysis, security assessments, security transformation, security validation, etc.
      • Demonstrable business management experience (budgeting, OKR's, KPI's revenue, margin, risk, audits, etc.)
      • People, process, and project management experience in a consulting services responsibility
      • Experience with writing and reviewing proposals and contracts
      • Strong customer communication and relationship management skills
      • Experience with Intelligence operations, coordination and capability development
      • Thorough understanding of traditional security operations, event monitoring, and SIEM tools
      • Understanding of critical tools used in security event analysis, incident response, computer forensics, malware analysis, or other areas of security operations
      • Fundamental understanding of network protocols, packet flow, firewall technologies, proxy and endpoint threat detection technologies
      • Understanding of security controls for common platforms and devices, including Windows, Unix, Linux, and network equipment.

        Education And Other Requirements
        • Degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline preferred
        • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience across cyber security domains
        • Active Top Secret Clearance preferred, or the ability to obtain one
        • Willingness to travel for business, for 25-50% of the time
        • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
        • Relevant cyber security and project management specific certifications such as CISSP and PMP are desirable
        • Prior experience working with the federal government is a plus.
