Job Description: -Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the national umbrella organization for the nation's leading network of women's health care providers, educators, and advocates, serving women, men, teens and families. Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) is the advocacy and political arm of PPFA. For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood has done more than any other organization in the United States to improve women's health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible health care decisions. - -Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks a dynamic and collaborative Senior Director of Development Data Strategy and Analytics. Reporting to the Vice President of Direct Response, the Senior Director leads the Data Strategy and Analytics (DDSA) department within PPFA's Development Division, which provides high quality data, analysis, reports, tools, and standards to stakeholders at the National Office and affiliates participating in the Collaborative Fundraising Program. -Purpose:The Senior Director, Development Data Strategy and Analytics, establishes the strategy to guide Planned Parenthood's investment in Development data, empowering stakeholders within the Development Division to make data-driven decisions. As the leading data evangelist for PPFA Development data, the Senior Director develops and executes a multi-year roadmap to expand, deepen, and integrate the divisions use of data, including critical infrastructure to support efficient, secure, and scalable data solutions. The Senior Director champions innovative approaches to data collection and dissemination, ensuring that data is easier to collect and use by strategists and analysts. As the head of the Development Data Strategy and Analytics team, supervises a team of six staff. The Senior Director stewards a portfolio of data sources, reports, analytics, and tools used by fundraising strategists, engagement strategists, and consultants to understand and contextualize its performance and leads a robust data governance program to drive data standardization and integrity. -Delivery:

  • Establish a robust strategic vision to guide the division's investment and use in data; evaluate and revise strategy as needed over time
  • Assess the division's current data maturity and capacity relative to fundraising departments at other organizations; develop an actionable, multi-year roadmap to expand, deepen, and integrate Planned Parenthood's use of data
  • Identify and pursue strategic opportunities to expand the impact of PPFA supporter data at the National Office and affiliates, including championing innovative approaches to data collection and utilization to improve Develop data quality, tools, reports, analyses, and methodologies that empower fundraising and supporter engagement stakeholders to make data-driven decisions
  • Lead the continual improvement of PPFA's data reporting portfolio, ensuring that reports are relevant, impactful, and timely for users
  • Establish critical data infrastructure to drive efficient, secure, and scalable data solutions
  • Work closely with Development Systems and Digital Fundraising and Engagement to create and deliver on an integrated data governance strategy throughout all Development data sets.
  • Oversee the resolution of business intelligence, dashboarding and reporting user requests.
  • Oversee the development of a single point of truth for National and federation-wide Constituent KPI's.
  • Coordinate data strategy and governance with the Health Care Divisions's Data Strategy, Analytics, & Governance Team including coordinating use of shared tools such as Tableau.
  • Lead the design and launch of a robust data governance program to drive data standardization across departments within the Development Division
  • Build and lead overall strategy and direction of the PPFA Development Data Strategy and Analytics department; lead and advise staff, affiliate partners, and consultants to ensure that data solutions align with Federation structure and goalsEngagement:
    • Serve as the lead data evangelist, spearheading efforts related to the improvement of data practices in all Development departments
    • Leads a team of six including project management, data operations, data architecture & engineering, and analytics and business intelligence.
    • Consult with stakeholders at all levels of the Division, including data processing specialists, analysts, engineers, online and offline fundraising strategists, PPFA executives, and PPFA division and department heads, to understand and address their unique data needs
    • Present data-related topics to affiliate and National Office executives, leaders, and staff, including presentations and written deliverables (e.g. decks, reports, analyses, white papers)
    • Drive consensus across departments on high-priority data topics, such as data integration and access policies, automated data collection, and data warehousing
    • Convene and coordinate data staff within the Development Division to decrease duplication, increase synergies, and share best practices
    • Engage executive leaders at the National Office (CISO, CTO, General Counsel, HCD) to drive cross-divisional data governance and data security initiatives
    • -Represent Planned Parenthood at external meetings, professional conferences, and advisory groups
    • Build relationships with partners within and across the Federation, as well as external partnerships, to advance Planned Parenthood's use of data and ensure it remains in-step with industry best practices and trends
    • Build, lead, and inspire a team of 2-6 full-time data professionals, including director-level data leads
    • Serve as a member of the Development Leadership Team and contribute data-related expertise and thought partnership to broader organizational strategySkills and Experience:
      • Bachelors degree and Master's degree or above (preferred) in Information Science or Information Technology
      • 12-15 years of progressive experience in data management, analysis/reporting, business intelligence (BI), statistics, or related area
      • 5-10 years of progressive senior leadership experience, including leading teams of data professionals (analysts, developers, architects, and/or database administrators)
      • Experience with fundraising data analysis preferred
      • Experience with CRMs preferred, including Salesforce and/or EveryAction NGPVAN
      • Proficient in at least two coding languages including SQL
      • Experience overseeing integrated data systems, including databases, data warehouses/ or lakes, ETL/data pipelines/interfaces, and other data entities
      • Deep understanding of data governance practices and concepts (e.g. metadata management, data standardization/normalization); experience deploying technical documentation, including data governance frameworks, policies/procedures, and end-user/documentation
      • Experience using data to drive equity in fundraising programs preferred, including disaggregating data and considering the impacts on multiple communities, including communities of color -Personal Attributes:
        • Flexible and consensus-driven leader who understands how to tell a story to engage an audience towards supporting a recommendation
        • Exceptional communication (oral/written) skills and interpersonal skills; proven experience communicating with executive leaders
        • Ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into understandable messages for different audiences using various formats (decks, verbal presentations, white papers)
        • Comfort and ease with public speaking with large and small audiences
        • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse partners at all levels of the Federation, as well as external partnerships
        • High degree of independence, flexibility, initiative, and commitment -
        • Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams in a fast paced and dynamic environment, including providing direction to colleagues and team leads in times of uncertainty;
