Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has a Structural Analysis Functional Manager 2 opening to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle Engineering group. This leadership role is located in San Diego, CA. This position is responsible for providing leadership support to a section consisting of 10 or more engineering leads and individual contributors. Travel, both domestic and international, up to 25% may be required for this role. As a Section Manager (SM) reporting to the Department Manager within the Vehicle Structures Department, approximately 15% of the SM's time will be spent performing leadership, people management, and supervisory duties such as management of personnel (direction & coaching), program/project reviews, coordination of job assignments, staffing, recruiting, timecard approval, performance reviews, and process improvement activities. In addition, the individual will support technology and business development activities, proposals, and design reviews. The balance of the time (85%) is expected to be spent supporting direct programs: analyzing structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, and maintenance designs. Additional areas of expertise: damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, structural modeling, dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include NX, FEMAP, NASTRAN and a variety of software applications. Job Responsibilities Provide team members with day-to-day communications, operating objectives, technical guidance, performance assessment and/or feedback, mentoring and career counseling, professional development and coaching, employee rewards and recognition.
Evaluate current program requirements to ensure the team is properly staffed optimize contract performance
Meet indirect budget targets, interpreting higher-level guidance for implementation within the organization.
Work with functional department to ensure to team members are properly trained for successful achievement of program goals
Manage training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM disciple and 9 years of related experience to include a background in structural analysis OR a Master's degree and 7 years of related experience to include a background in structural analysis
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or related study
Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Salary Range: $143,500 USD - $215,300 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
