The Manager, Maintenance Control Center, is a key member of Viasat's Global Enterprise & Mobility team, which helps deliver and maintain Viasat's best-in-class connectivity services to our Commercial Airline, Business Aviation and other mobility customers. The Manager of Maintenance control is the Center of all our operational execution for all our mobility-based customers. The Manager of Maintenance Control plays a critical part in the service launch of new customers and building the processes to support system activations & validation checks for new installations and maintenance of the Viasat connectivity solution. This position requires contributing to shared knowledge, documentation, training of peers and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a background in aircraft systems, specifically electrical and avionics equipment troubleshooting and testing. The critical nature of the work requires good judgment, initiative and specialized technical expertise to understand problems and develop recommended solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Supervisors, Controllers and Satcom Specialists to ensure success of the maintenance control center.
  • Oversee and provide technical support for personnel performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the connectivity system be it our customers, field engineer or line maintenance departments.
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring of the maintenance status of connectivity systems in line operations by close communication with Line Maintenance personnel, Maintenance Vendors, customer operations, and other stakeholders to ensure all systems operational.
  • Build and maintain our CRM solution in Salesforce.
  • Initiates and communicates a variety of administrative personnel actions (e.g., Performance Reviews, scheduling and/or approving OT, PTO and disciplinary actions)
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation and records of all maintenance work performed on customer aircraft.
  • Communicate with Operational Managers, Quality Assurance, Materials management and contract maintenance as required to support the repair and maintenance process.
  • Participate with and lead the team to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair any discrepancies related to the aircraft and vessels in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Develop, maintain and present KPIs for customer and internal leadership consumption.
  • Assist in the development of a maintenance and preventative maintenance program.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of internal and external operational procedures and processes and applies them to the completion of complex technical assignments.
  • Coordinate new software roll out, testing and implementation to minimize impact to reliability.
  • Coordinates and schedules with maintenance controllers ground time, manpower, engineering resources and parts required to address chronic maintenance items at line stations.
  • Provide a timely response and resolution to any service inquiry related to installation and maintenance especially from customer leadership.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Manage a staff of operational direct reports with all administrative functions.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Support. Requirements
    • Hold or be able to attain a valid Passport.
    • 3+ years in a supervisory/management role in an operational environment.
    • The ability to work with and understand maintenance manuals, maintenance programs, reliability programs, and interpret FAA regulations.
    • Familiarity with ticketing/CRM systems - especially salesforce.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24x7 environment as needed to support round-the-clock operations.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical material to a variety of audiences.
    • Be able to travel up to 75% of the time to other Viasat offices, customer locations and customer maintenance locations, especially if remote. Preferences
      • Prior experience with RF Satellite or Wireless Communication systems.
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
      • Prior experience working with Linux/Unix.
      • Experience with hardware and software elements involved in IP networking and satellite communications.

For Colorado-based jobs only: The minimum for this position is $98,500 annually; however, base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
