happen! Job Summary: The Product Line Manager (PLM) role has full
Product level responsibility including and not limited to profit
and loss (P&L) responsibility for the Instrumentation Product
lines at Programmable Power. Overall responsibilities are
categorized into five main areas: Strategic planning and roadmap
development; Defining and executing "Go To Market" strategies for
new product commercialization; Focal point to create Marketing
Requirements Documents for new product development (NPD); Manage
efforts spearheading market research targeting industry/application
trends, competitive analysis and growth industries that can be
transformed into strategies for the business; and Drive content
with local marketing staff to promote new products and to create
tools enabling ease of use and expanded knowledgebase. The PLM is
responsible for the concept to end-of-life product marketing
activities for assigned products and/or product lines. This
includes providing competitive analyses, properly positioning and
promoting products in the market, defining product features and
options, and coordinating, as necessary, product continuous
improvement or corrective actions. This role involves overseeing
all marketing efforts - working cross functionally with sales,
engineering and operations - to ensure that assigned products are
defined and supported in such a manner that customers perceive the
value and desirability of the products in the customers'
applications. Competency Requirements: In order to perform this job

fast-paced environment Key Responsibilities: Establishing
relationships with key customers in order to get voice of the
customer (VOC) input on new product concepts. Studying and
understanding our products and researching our competition's
products. From this investigation, define the advantages and
pitfalls from the field of available solutions and define potential
new products. Serving as the architect of the product roadmap for
the business. Responsibilities include the definition, creation and
execution of his or her defined product area of responsibility.
Must be able to articulate a strategic plan that is reasonable,
appropriate with the given business climate and is guided by data.
Owning the new product and continually reviewing assumptions and
processes to assure that the new product will be successful both
technically (performance and reliability) and financially.
Reviewing assigned products' pricing relative to margins and
competitive products, making price change recommendations to
support product price list update schedule. Working closely with
sales, engineering, and others to provide definition of new
products including technical requirements, competitive analysis,
specifics of markets served, expected multi-year sales forecast,
return on investment and project justifications. Participating in
the new product development (NPD) and launch process with primary
authorship responsibilities for Concept Approval request (CA) and
marketing requirements documents (MRDs). Providing commercial touch
and business acumen where the product manager will oversee
technical and commercial discussions with customers in the
appropriate setting as it relates to new product engagement or
"voice of the customer" market research. Providing marketing
application support for assigned products. This may include the
research and write up of application notes and marketing bulletins
as well as participation with field sales personnel to find cost
effective solutions for customer challenges. Participating in
marketing launch activities for new or updated products. This
includes, user manual generation support, ads, sales training,
press releases, marketing collateral materials and other activities
as defined in the launch plan. Supporting departmental market
research activities including assignments to become "resident
expert" on assigned market segments. This would include market
size, primary applications, technical requirements, and trends
affecting the use of AMETEK Instrumentation products (currently the
VTI products). Reviewing modified standard product requests for
technical and financial feasibility including return on investment
criteria. The PLM verifies if there is a business case based on
projected development cost, engineering opportunity costs and sales
forecast of such special engineering request. Minimum
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Electrical
degree preferred) Minimum of 7 years of technical application,
sales or product management experience (Instrumentation products
desired) Ability to travel 25-30% Desired Qualifications: MBA with
marketing emphasis Engineering design experience Strong inquiry
skills and a desire to be data-oriented, balanced with an ability
to draw a conclusion and take action Excellent writing skills and
experience with Windows Office tools Articulate verbal presentation
skills A demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner,
prioritizing work appropriately A demonstrated ability to work

Diego, California. Many consider San Diego to possess the best
