you develop and expand your career. SUMMARY: Ionis is seeking a
dynamic new product commercial strategy Director to join our
rapidly growing New Product Commercial Strategy group. The Director
will be a key contributor to defining market opportunities and
informing development plans and priorities for Ionis' wholly owned
Neurology portfolio. She/he will lead pre-commercialization efforts
to define disease epidemiology and primary/secondary indications,
determine requirements to differentiate from competitor products,
create commercial plans, and oversee execution of commercial
plans.The Director will be responsible for strategic marketing to
guide product and brand development. This includes defining
sustainable competitive advantages, key product attributes, market
opportunities, competitive positioning, and branding. Reporting to
the Commercial Neurology Franchise head, the Director will bring
current commercial knowledge and future trends together with the
science to ensure commercial considerations are embedded into
R&D planned activities that will build the foundation for
successful launches. -This is a highly visible role that requires
strong analytical skills, superior cross-functional collaboration
and the ability to operate at all levels of the organization. This
is a unique opportunity to participate at the start of the build
out of a commercial inline business that promises to have multiple
launches through 2030. Ionis is at the forefront of innovative
science, defining and executing innovative and patient-centric
solutions to deliver a transformational RNA Technology to patients
with a serious rare and fatal diseases.Key Responsibilities
- Provides commercial input and strategic guidance to multiple
R&D Neurology programs in preclinical and Phase-1/2 clinical
development stages across multiple disease targets. Includes
integrating Commercial input into indication selection and evidence
generation needs. Drives development of business case(s).
- Establishes target product profiles and determines appropriate
product positioning and strategic fit. -
- Identify value-drivers and provide evidence-based rationales
for strategic commercial decisions.
- Develops initial commercialization strategy/plans and identify
key business drivers for the commercialization strategy through
in-depth understanding of product, neurology treatment practices,
customer needs and competitive trends in the rare disease neurology
market.
- Work closely with Market Access, Medical and HEOR to develop
differentiation strategies and compelling value proposition to
secure appropriate market access for assigned assets and lead
Commercial activities for early-stage programs.
- Provide analysis and input to colleagues during regular
financial planning, corporate development, portfolio, and strategic
planning cycles.
- Offer strong leadership to cross functional commercial teams,
as well as ensure aligned commercial/cross functional perspectives
are provided to development teams.
- Partner with legal, regulatory, medical affairs, corporate
communications, clinical development, and translational medicine to
ensure global alignment of the proposed strategy.
- Work closely with R&D and Medical Affairs to cultivate and
leverages medical experts to shape and deliver on brand
strategy.
- Oversee delivery of indication prioritization and
differentiated product concepts to support transition of lead
neurology compounds into clinical development.
- Determine needs for market research in collaboration with
market insights group
- Your ultimate benchmark will be the successful development of
differentiated product that maximize the overall impact on the
lives of patients while delivering value to IonisKnowledge, Skills,
and Experience:
- At least 6-10 plus years of relevant experience, to include 5
years of experience in Pharmaceutical Development and/or Commercial
roles, including strategic planning, brand management and/or
lifecycle planning
- Work experience in rare disease or Neurology is a plus
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the drug development
process, R&D trends, strategy, and markets; experience in
market research, strategic planning, and business development.

- Demonstrated ability to analyze industry trends, understand and
analyze scientific information, work with internal
scientific/clinical teams and interact with external experts.
- Employ patient, provider, and payer perspectives to create
minimal and optimal target product profiles reflective of each
asset s value proposition.
- Understanding of all aspects of the pharmaceutical development
and commercial planning process, including industry trends and
competitive landscapes in the Neurology therapeutic area.
- Collaborate with Ionis development teams to build early-stage
relationships with target KOLs and relevant patient advocacy groups
related to factors that may materially impact future product
revenues (e.g., market trends, access, indications, endpoints,
specialty targets, labelling, packaging configurations, post
marketing commitments, etc.)
- A track record of developing deep collaborations with partners
in Clinical Development, Research, Global Market Access, Medical
Affairs, HEOR and Regulatory groups as well as senior
leadership.

recommendations to senior management and across functional
areas
- Ability to travel which may include overnight travel
(10-30%)
