Job Description:

Under direction, incumbents must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.
This statement of work covers the need for student services to provide technical and/or analytical support in the fields of computer engineering in order to help design, develop, and enhance the electrical energy system for the Energy Management Circuit Breaker (EMCB) project and the Energy Innovation Lab (EIL). The student will need to write a python programming code to create a Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for multiple systems, and will assist in design a set of test cases for EIL to test and capability to the EMCB project.
This project is meant to install devices to monitor the power coming out of the transmission lines, and send data to the high voltage shop in military bases to make their job easier. The devices will also increase the safety in military bases because they have multi-sensors which include low voltage and fire detection.
The student contractor shall assist in the following computer engineering related tasks:



  • Ability to use Python.


  • Ability to assist in designing a circuit for EMCB and EIL system.


  • Ability to evaluate circuit breaker and create test case scenarios.


  • Ability to conduct testing of EMCB system, create report of conducted test.


  • Ability to write a programming code to integrate EMCB with existing EIL systems.


  • Ability to design a PCB to both circuits for both projects.


  • Ability to test and troubleshoot system installed in the Energy Innovation Lab (EIL).


  • Use one of the popular programming languages to design tools to and add capability to EMCB and the EIL (Python preferred).


  • Ability to create bill of material of parts that is created in the PCB design tool


  • Ability to implement system sensing and control using a micro controller preferably Atmel MCU family, knowledge of Arduino (MCU is also preferred).


    Submit Monthly Status Reports and Bi-Weekly Time Reports in accordance with the base contract.
    Undergraduate Student 3: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


    • Undergraduate Level 3: (Qualified Junior or Senior)


    • Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering major


      Required Course Work:

      • Introduction to Computer Programing or Computer Engineering

        or Electrical Engineering or Principles of Information Systems (or
        an equivalent course)
        DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


        • Previous experience PCB Design.


        • Previous knowledge in C programming for the Electrical Engineering.


        • Experience in MCU programing ATMEL Family for the Electrical Engineering.


          ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION:


          • This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

          • This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week
