Job Description:
Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a VP of Engineering,
RFIC.Position Type: Direct HireDuration: Full TimeLocation: San
Diego, CA 92123 (Onsite)As a(n) VP of Engineering, RFIC you
will:Major purpose: Management: Planning, resource allocation,
hiring employee retention, performance management, mentor junior
engineers including in house engineers at multiple locations and
contractors. Achieving both technical, timeline, and costing
project goals.Market Knowledge and Product Competitiveness: Closely
working with marketing and sales team to understand the product
features, specifications, timeline, and monitor competitor's
development.Technical Leadership: Work with the Product Design
teams and others to define IP block functionality and performance
specifications. Project management to ensure on-time completion.
Technical oversight of all phases of design, layout, and
characterization of IP blocks, while maximizing reusability across
multiple products. Proper execution of established design and
verification flow using CAD tools from Cadence, Mentor Graphics.
Ensure engineer follows established design and verification flow
with detailed design review and check list sign off. Ensure
documentation of all relevant design information to educate others
on IP block usage and novel design techniques. Occasional circuit
design work to assess architecture selection and supplement team
resources. Oversight of control and application software
integration is also required.Qualification Production Program and
Product Support: Establish a qualification program for production
IC for reliability, environmental, and life cycle compliance.
Establish a high-volume production program with pass-fail criteria
and yield analysis. Work with Applications, Product, and
Manufacturing Engineers to help answer customer questions, assess
field failures, and support yield improvements.CAD Tool Management
and Server: Negotiate with vendors for appropriate CAD tools to
support the design and verification flow. Working with IT
department to ensure sufficient licenses and server resources for
the team and achieve cost and performance balance. Work with
consultant/IT department for CAD tool installation, updates, and
database maintenance and backup.Foundry Partner: Maintain good
relationship with TSMC and Global Foundries. Ensure timely tape out
and delivery, PDK update, and resolution of technical questionsLab
and Test Equipment: Establish testing requirements for RF, DC,
Thermal, ensure availability test setup and equipment to satisfy
the test plan, establish budget and procurement and maintenance
plan.AMS Infrastructure & Methodology: Contribute to requirements
documentation, tool selection and methodology development.Product
Capability Development: Work with Design, Marketing, Modeling and
Process Technology teams to drive the definition and development of
SOI process technology, modeling requirements, IP roadmaps, and
product platforms to enable Product Design to rapidly build RFICs
and integrate them into products.Reporting and Presentation:
Performs presentations to senior management and customers on
progress and status of various projects. Establish overall budget
and schedule and update on monthly basis.IP Generation: work with
engineers to capture innovative idea and prepare for IP filing with
the IP/legal team.Competency RequirementsIn order to perform the

maintain momentum; shows a strong bias toward action.Major
functions: 5+ years management experience leading a design
engineering team.12+ years of experience developing
Analog/Mixed-Signal/RFIC circuit blocks and products.An expert in
Analog / mixed-signal IC circuit design: amplifiers, references,
LDO regulators, data converters, switched capacitor circuits,
charge pumps, digital interfaces.Able to effectively supervise
layout designers.Understanding the design and verification flow for
both Analog/RF and digital circuitsAble to lead and integrate
digital design and software functions into a product.Experience in
high volume, commercial CMOS ICs (bulk or SOI)Understand different
semiconductor process and characteristic, process corners and
variations, random and systemic deviations, temperature and voltage
variations, performance/cost trade-off.CAD tools: understanding the
CAD tool for Analog, RF circuit design and verification, digital
RTL, synthesis, P&R tool.Strong sense of urgency to meet
product requirements on schedule.Team player, able to work
effectively within international groups department and cross
functionally with other teams.Ability to mentor junior
engineers.Technical/Functional skills: Familiarity with RFIC
products and applicationsUnderstanding of FPGA integration and
application interfacesKnowledge of IC fabrication and how this
impacts circuit performance.Software tools: Cadence, Synopsis,
Mentor Graphics, Excel, JMP, Matlab, ADS,
HFSSEducation/Experience/Licenses etc.:BSEE, advanced degrees
(Master of PhD in EE) preferred.The ideal candidate will have: 12+
years of experience developing Analog/Mixed-Signal/RFIC circuit
