This belief inspires us to relentlessly push the boundaries of what is possible today-to enable researchers and clinicians to turn big dreams into impactful genomic discoveries that improve lives and change the course of diseases globally.As we continue to expand our capabilities beyond genomic data, we are seeking a Senior Director of Multi-omic Data Solutions to lead a group of developers, designers, and subject matter experts responsible for delivering complex multi-omic solutions built on Illumina's flagship informatics products. This leader will be responsible for the design, development, release and sustaining of tools which enable complex querying and visualization of expression, proteomic, and other multimodal data. In addition, you will work in collaboration with commercial, marketing, and executive leadership to define the vision and strategy for our multi-omic software roadmap.This role will report directly to the Global Head of Software and Informatics and will be key in helping Illumina achieve its strategic goal of becoming the worlds the leading provider of multi-omic data generation, aggregation, interpretation, and insights. - -
Responsibilities:

• Lead the multi-omic software organization, including functional and product leadership.
• Lead the product vision and of our GWAS/PheWAS, Proteomic, and expression products, as well as future multi-omic products, building upon the core Illumina data platform.
• Support the development of expertise in emerging areas of interest including proteomics and complex multi-omic processing.
• Manage a staff of senior software developers responsible for implementing and deploying cloud based software solutions.
• Effectively translate our corporate strategy into commercially successful enterprise informatics products. -
• Lead the development of novel applications for the aggregation, analysis, correlation, and visualization of complex -omics data.
• Leverage market expertise to help create a vision and roadmap for our informatics software products, including clear articulation of market needs, competitive landscape, and scientific rationale.
• Provide scientific and strategic leadership to software development and on-market product support teams.
• Help lead the technical implementation and architecture of Multi-omic software products, including full stack development across the entire software development life cycle. -
• Oversee major projects and initiatives that have large financial impact to the company.
• Manage key relationships across product development, to influence strategy, guide research, make decisions, and efficiently manage resources.
• Create and foster strong working relationships with key partner organizations, including product management, regulatory, business development and sales.
• Hire, develop, coach, and manage performance of a team of scientific and technical staff, including director and senior director level leaders.
• Direct and control global resource staffing, budgeting, and priorities for the informatics product architecture organization to achieve business objectives. -
• Champion an environment of that creates a culture of ownership, values diversity, and promotes constructive feedback. -
• Minimize schedule and technical risk by foreseeing and addressing obstacles proactively and aggressively; leverage past experience and communication skills to collaborate effectively with the business.
• Keep abreast of scientific literature, emerging approaches and innovations in bioinformatics, clinical reporting, and software development.
• Identify and partner with world-class external collaborators including key opinion leaders, academic organizations, commercial partners, other industry organizations.
• Represent Illumina externally as a thought leader in multi-omic industry. Education / Experience:
  • MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, or related mathematics or -scientific field.
  • 15+ years of product development experience in a relevant industry.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience including globally distributed teams and director-level reports.Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated experience designing the strategy of and leading the execution of product development.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting an on-market software product.
    • Recognized as a thought leader and subject matter expert in one or more scientific or technical domains.
    • Deep knowledge of proteomics, multi-omic data, tertiary analysis tools, enterprise data management, data science, complex -omic data visualization, and/or biomarker discovery.
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with external customers and collaborators.
    • Experience with communicating and presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
    • A proven manager and developer of people; capable of recruiting, managing, and motivating strong teams.
    • Able convey a clear vision across an enterprise in order to meet or exceed objectives.
    • History of strong scientific contributions demonstrated by highly cited publications, impactful tools, products, or data sets used by the scientific community.
    • Capable of successfully navigating a complex organizational matrix;The estimated base salary range for the Sr Director Multiomics Data Solutions role based in the United States of America is: $216,200 - $324,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
