Position Objective:Provide commercial leadership for the Flow Cytometry Strategic Business Unit. Manage and oversee the activities of the Flow Cytometry Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) team. Coordinate activities of the team with the Thermo Fisher Scientific Commercial Sales Organization, Product Management and Market Development teams to drive growth for the portfolio.Essential Functions:As technical sales leader, the position will be responsible for driving a team of North American Technical Flow Cytometry Instrument Sales Specialists to meet and exceed revenue growth targets. Provide timely feedback to Marketing and Business Unit partners to drive productive marketing and lead generation programs, relevant sales collateral, and application development that best serves growth objectives and enables Thermo Fisher Scientific to win in the market. Coordinate input to the business from the field team to identify key opinion leaders in cell biology, oncology, immunology, and other relevant adjacent markets, identify key industry conferences, provide feedback regarding existing and new technologies, and relevant customer applications. Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to direct reports. Maintain records of individual performance. Continually evaluate individual skills, strengths and opportunities for growth. Guide development plans, monitor regularly and clearly communicate performance expectations. Partner with internal colleagues in finance and commercial operations to provide timely and accurate tracking, forecasting and analysis of the business. Expectations are that all significant activities and opportunities will be input and managed in the CRM system in accordance with Commercial policies, procedures and conventions. May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.Nature and Scope:This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing product technologies and sales strategy, and to influence audiences in support of that strategy. Effectiveness in this role requires knowledge of the life science market and the scientific trends affecting life science research, as well as the ability to recognize new opportunities and translational opportunities. Decisions are made within policy constraints; proposed solutions are expected to be both creative and practical. Performs duties independently with general instruction given on new projects or assignments. Job encounters problems of moderately diverse scope and moderate to high complexity. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; mistakes in work could cause significant data errors and financial loss. The incumbent must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor toward the job, the Company and their work team. The role will require 40-60% travel.*Minimum Qualifications (must have)Education Requirements: Bachelor s degree required in a Life Sciences field.Experience Requirements: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of successful capital equipment sales experience in the life science or related industry. Demonstrated proficiency in Flow Cytometry required. Basic understanding of a P&L is required.Preferred requirements: Demonstrated life science sales leadership experience. Customer liaison experience with demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or public speaking is preferred. Ability to communicate complex situations and ideas clearly and concisely. Prior hands-on lab experience is helpful. Must have strong management skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effective influencing skills. Proven ability to identify new business opportunities, set and meet aggressive revenue growth objectives, and develop strong working relationships across the business.
