Senior Director, Total Rewards Location

  • San Diego, CA - HQ Apply Now Responsible for the design, implementation and communication of the Total Rewards Strategy in support of enhancing employee attraction, retention and engagement, while ensuring program alignment with the company's business strategy to deliver capabilities to ensure business success. Primary Responsibilities:
    • Partners with senior leadership to define, develop, communicate and execute the Total Rewards philosophy, vision, and strategy.
    • Designs, develops and implements all reward programs, policies and practices; including compensation, and benefits to ensure they remain competitive, sustainable, scalable, and have an impact on the long and short term performance of the organization.
    • Effectively incorporates plan designs to support short and long-term business objectives, ensuring compensation strategies and solutions support existing and emerging business needs.
    • Proposes new programs within compensation, equity, and benefits to remain competitive with the market and align with corporate strategy.
    • Partners with senior leadership as applicable on the design, recommendations, analysis and implementation of executive compensation program, including ensuring company meets all regulatory and legal requirements as relates to executive compensation and benefits.
    • Collaborates with senior leadership and business partners to evaluate, modify and design variable compensation structures, including sales incentive compensation, to create effective programs that enhance performance, support our values and drive business results.
    • Oversees the design and administration of compensation programs including base pay, variable pay, merit, equity, compensation planning, and market analysis with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Develops effective analytics and metrics around total rewards programs to influence program direction and monitor business impact and effectiveness.
    • Analyzes data, creates recommendations, and prepares reports and presentations for Compensation Committee of Board of Directors.
    • Designs a comprehensive performance management program which integrates and supports total rewards and compensation philosophies.
    • Oversees the research of salary market data and building of creative solutions, ensuring that the organization retains a competitive total rewards position in the marketplace.
    • Designs, analyzes and oversees implementation of sales compensation program(s); works in partnership with Sales management to achieve commercial goals through an effective compensation program.
    • Evaluates programs, keeps abreast of legislation, trends, marketplace changes, and advances and makes recommendations to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
    • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop innovative and competitive compensation and benefits programs, processes and policies.
    • Continually assesses and recommends enhancements and new programs to enable the company to remain competitive.
    • Responsible for implementation of mid-year and annual performance evaluation and salary review process.
    • Partners with corporate and field leadership to leverage compensation and benefits programs to meet organizational objectives.
    • Analyzes the market competitiveness and cost-effectiveness of our compensation and benefit plans to ensure they optimize our ability to attract and retain top talent.
    • Maintains current knowledge of related government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security act (ERISA), FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, OSHA, Worker's Compensation, and other applicable Labor and/or Tax laws and regulations; fulfills compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Oversees the management of applicable vendor relationships, such as benefits contracts, and bid negotiation.
    • Directs preparation and distribution of communications to inform stakeholders of compensation, benefits, and applicable policies.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned. Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree in business or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered, MA/MS/MBA highly desirable. Requires at least 10 years in development, implementation and execution of total rewards programs and compensation strategies in support of business objectives in a public company. In addition, 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership by working directly with the head of HR, CEO and Board (Compensation Committee) on executive/equity compensation strategies and programs. Must possess:
      • Expertise in design and implementation of Compensation and Benefits programs with strong knowledge of related regulations
      • One or more certifications or demonstrated technical experience in compensation strongly desired; CCP designation preferred
      • Expertise in performance management design and implementation
      • Comprehensive knowledge of benefits programs (Health, 401K, etc.) and experience working with external vendors
      • Strong knowledge of equity design and implementation
      • Mastery of Excel, PowerPoint and HR systems
      • Robust financial acumen, as well understanding of tax/accounting/legal/regulatory issues related to executive compensation programs
      • Experience with internal and external reporting and disclosures requirements on executive compensation required
      • Exceptional relationship development, partnership and influencing skills, and a commitment to outstanding customer service
      • Expertise in design and management of sales, executive, traditional and non-traditional compensation programs
      • Experience with developing and/or managing executive compensation plans required
      • Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
      • Strong business acumen and project management skills
      • Proven experience in building compensation structures and benefits programs across geographies
      • Experience in presenting to executive management including Board of Directors
