OU.LOCATION Director Quality & Mission Assurance The Director of Quality & Mission Assurance will be responsible for leading the Quality and Mission Assurance efforts within the division. The Director, along with their staff, will provide oversight and ownership in the creation of a ---zero-defect--- culture across the business. The Director of Quality & Mission Assurance will establish process capability performance into Cobham's operations based on in-depth data collection and analysis. The Director should have significant leadership presence and be able to articulate where the organization's product and process weaknesses are and be able to work with other functional and business leaders to drive improvements. This position will report to the VP/GM. The primary mission of this role is to behave and act as a catalyst for improvement using data, statistical methods, and analytics techniques to solve complex problems, discover meaningful insights and identify business improvement opportunities while ensuring product and process integrity for our customers and overall mission success. Essential Responsibilities Work closely with the program teams and the functional organizations to ensure that all phases of the customer cycle, from early customer involvement through post-delivery support, are meeting or exceeding the requirements for mission success. Lead the quality engineering, quality inspection, mission assurance, quality systems/auditing functions and SHE (safety, health, environment). Build a strong team ready to meet the needs of the business.Champion LCM Phase gate adherence, and provide independent evaluation of technical gate reviews to ensure quality rigor is being applied to the process.Champion building a culture that reinforces compliance with appropriate policies, regulations, and/or certification guidelines Maintain the site's certification and compliance efforts for ISO, AS9100, and CMMI levels Verify mission performance is understood through meaningful assessments and key performance indicators. Verify and correct negative performance/compliance trends before they become significant issues.Ensure that design engineering, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing and supply chain interact sufficiently throughout the product planning and design phases to ensure customer requirements are met and we achieve a seamless hand-off during product transition to productionChair the Corrective Action Board (CAB) for the division. Ensure corrective action plans established and ensure they are completed and are effective post implementation.Track COPQ for the site, and coordinate action plans.Have an in-depth understanding of TIPQA quality system to enable an evaluation for applicability to needs of the businessMake data-based recommendations to enhance operational excellence, leading to the implementation of new processes, activities, and employee engagement actions that enhance the customer experience and ensure that our employees ---live and breathe--- a customer-focused quality culture every dayWork with members of the leadership team to develop innovative processes, communications, metrics, and accountabilities that result in product and business process improvementsSupport and provide leadership for our FOD, ESD, 6S, and continuous improvement activitiesActively work and collaborate with the Enterprise Process Improvement / Steering CommitteeActively mentor, sponsor and/or champion Six Sigma projects across the businessBe responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Quality function including all business practices, as well as hardware, software and supply chain qualityBe responsible for the maintenance of quality records that document the quality status of material/products and will provide necessary information and cumulative data for Customer/Government responsesChampion and Confer with business or customer representatives to establish and enforce change-reporting proceduresPerform initial quality planning and implement cost effective quality plans commensurate with customer requirements.Coordinate quality activities with Operations, Engineering and other departments within the division.Participate in design reviews and facilitate design and quality concurrent engineering activitiesParticipate in business line and program reviews as well as program kick-off/close-out meetingsWork with line managers/supervisors to implement assurance systems with processes, key activities, and accountabilities clearly definedIdentify and communicate institutional (business) risks and mitigationsDevelop and maintain an issues management program that uses a risk-based approach to managing issues from discovery or self-identification through root-cause analysis and resolution to prevent recurrenceProvide leadership, guidance and oversight to the Mission Assurance team. Effectively integrate the mission assurance system with other management systems.Improve the efficiency of the Quality organization through effective leadership, individual and group training, and process improvement Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor's degree (Engineering discipline preferred) with a minimum of 15 years of experience as a Quality Assurance or Quality Control Manager in the aerospace/defense industryMaster's degree in Engineering or Business preferredASQ certification in Quality Engineering, Auditing, and/or Quality Management is preferredSix Sigma Green Belt (or higher) or equivalent. Be able to show evidence of achievements. Experience and a working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management requirements and CMMI Level 3 requirements is requiredExperience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Lean Manufacturing techniques, Design for Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) is requiredSkills and experience in talent management, process improvement, root cause and corrective action, Six Sigma, statistics and information analysis, strategic planning, executive presentations, thoroughness and attention to detail, dealing with complexityDue to the nature of our business and customers, qualified candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearancePandoLogic.Category: Quality Control, Keywords: Quality Control / Quality Assurance Director
