In the U.S., Encore operates through it’s operating subsidiary Midland Credit Management. To support our goals as an industry leader in purchasing unsecured consumer debt, Midland Credit Management, is seeking a Chief Digital Officer (CDO) to lead our Digital team at our Headquarters in San Diego, CA. The Chief Digital Officer will be a Vice President (VP) level position reporting to the SVP, Strategy & Analytics and Chief Analytics Officer. Midland Credit Management is one of the top two buyers of debt in the U.S. Our focus in recent years has been buying unsecured, credit card charge-off debt from the major credit card issuers in the U.S. We purchase the debt portfolios, almost immediately after charge-off and employ our consumer centric approach to collect that debt. We use multiple channels such as, Call Centers, Direct Mail and Digital strategies to engage consumers; in some cases, when those strategies fail, we pursue litigation strategies for collection. Our Consumer centric approach and rigor around compliance are cornerstones of our collection approach. Encore and it’s U.S. operating unit, Midland Credit Management, is highly regarded by our employees as a fun and challenging place to work. Currently, we employ Digital strategies for engaging the consumers and generating collections. Share of Digital collection has been growing over the past two years. We expect the share to grow faster than any other channels in the next five years. While we have a well performing Digital function today, we are looking for a Chief Digital Officer who can take our Digital strategies to the next level. The Chief Digital Officer will directly manage the existing Digital function team, which is comprised of employees with Digital experience, and will be supported by very strong Analytic, Decision Science, IT, Project Management teams, as well as, a variety of other teams. The CDO will also be the primary influencer as to how to build the resources, technology and processes needed to achieve our aggressive goal in Digital collection growth. The CDO will lead the strategy creation, roadmap development, and delivery of digital strategies. Close collaboration with our traditional marketing and call center teams will be required to create integrated solutions and optimize value added to help the U.S. consumers resolve their financial obligations. Primary responsibilities: Set Digital vision for Encore’s U.S. business (Midland Credit Management) Deliver upon Digital collection target and expense budget Directly lead the current Digital team (8-10 employees) and grow it as needed Lead the Digital function with support from other teams like Analytics, Decision Science, IT, Project Management and other teams as needed Provide expertise, processes and partnerships to achieve the company’s vision Develop effective partnerships with other areas of the business including IT, Analytics, and Compliance Ability to understand Midlands business model, end-to-end processes, regulatory and compliance requirements and our focus on consumer experience Develop Digital vision for Midland and articulate the incremental value for consumers and the impact on the organization Create and execute against a roadmap to achieve the Digital vision Required qualifications: Demonstrated performance in creating and delivering upon Digital visions Deep expertise in Digital marketing and consumer engagement channels including email, search optimization, text messaging / mobile digital advertising, etc. Extensive knowledge of Digital conversion funnel and consumer engagement strategies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Must be very familiar with A/B testing and multivariate statistical models Experience managing Digital P&L with Digital revenue and expense management Location: Must be able to work in the San Diego office full-time Required skills, education, and experience: Bachelor's degree; Master’s preferred 10 – 15 year’s experience Industry experience in related industry including consumer financial services, such as credit card, fin-tech and/or insurance businesses
