Job Description:

Epic Science's Director of Business Development, BioPharma Partnering will report to the Sr. Director, Corporate Commercial Development and will be responsible for developing and expanding strategic account relationships worldwide for the company?s pharmaceutical research services and companion diagnostic (CDx) opportunities.
The position will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans for all accounts and exceeding revenue and bookings targets. The Director of Business Development will work with the executive team and the Sr Director, Corporate Commercial Development to identify new clinical research and CDx partnership opportunities focused in prostate and breast cancer, to assess the drug development market dynamics and to provide market feedback to the marketing team for development of new collateral and outreach programs. (S)he will be responsible for negotiating and closing new statements of work and partnerships, in conjunction with Sr Director, Corporate Commercial Development.

The role will be based on the West OR East coast and within a reasonable distance to a major airport. Candidates should be prepared for extensive travel (up to 60%) including routine trips to the company's San Diego headquarters. When not traveling, the Director of Business Development, BioPharma Partnering will work from a home office. WEST COAST TERRITORY
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and cultivate high level relationships within targeted pharmaceutical accounts, establishing strategic accounts plans (including pipeline analysis) for each account and executing approved plans to drive revenue Participate in organizing and presenting Epic's pharma services and CDx capabilities at seminars, exhibitions and similar "on-site" activities at key accounts and scientific meetings Communicate the results of client meetings on an ongoing basis to the executive team in a timely manner and work collaboratively across all aspects of the organization Provide updated executive summaries for all accounts and work with executives to drive business through executive channels Work with Alliance Managers and Marketing to gather customer and technical information to aid the effective targeting of clinical trial sales activities Monitor pharma research services, liquid biopsy and CDx competition and report important activities (products, services, & technical developments, trends in the market, seminars, training sessions etc.) to the executive team Maintain SFDC with accurate and comprehensive information regarding all levels of contacts and opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry Provide accurate forecasting, reporting of activities, and CDx business development opportunities via routine use and updating of CRM application ( or executive summaries.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: May perform additional duties as assigned or directed by management from time to time.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: B.S. degree in Life Sciences is minimally required; Advanced degree (Masters, Ph.D., and/or MBA) highly desirable Minimum of (5-8+) years of sales and/or business development experience in the clinical trial services, laboratory services, clinical research organization (CRO) market required; experience selling liquid biopsies is preferred. Strong "closer" with a successful track record of coordinating a complex sales process from initial contact to signature, including the ability to negotiate through complex agreements Clear understanding of drug development, including how oncology assays are utilized in clinical trials focused in breast and prostate cancer Strong relationships (or ability to build them) with oncology Key Opinion Leaders within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry Prior experience and/or understanding of CDx development process within diagnostic companies; partnership with pharmaceutical organizations strongly preferred Preferred (education/experience):
