Job Summary This role is responsible for the continued development and support of our plans to penetrate the Security and CEDIA channels with Spectrum Brands Hardware and Home Improvement division's residential access solutions within an assigned geographic territory. This position requires that you operate out of your home and are in the field at least 4 days per week calling on customers. Your territory strategy should focus on the security and home automation channel and the distribution partners and installing dealers that support it. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the National Sales Manager, you'll drive the sales of one of our premier brands, focusing on the distribution channel including national and regional distributors, security dealers, and home automation integrators throughout this territory. Taking ownership of an existing book of business, it will be your mission to retain and grow your established accounts as well as develop and close new business. Initially, you will focus the majority of your time on existing customers, building credibility, trust, and strong relationships. As those relationships develop and stabilize, you'll be pursuing new accounts, increasing our market share, and building a lucrative career. - (60%) Territory management: Management of all accounts within assigned territory, including established distributor accounts. Maintain and grow market share through distributors, direct and indirect security and home automation providers, and installing dealers. Take a consultative approach, listen and understand the needs of clients and prospects, collaborate with distribution channel sales personnel, managers, and partners, and deliver well-formulated training to distribution partners and dealers, and develop proposals that align our product features and benefits with their requirements. - (25%) Market share expansion: Develop a territory strategy focused on the largest opportunities to gain share while keeping a keen focus on retaining existing business. Leverage current distributor and traditional security and dealer relationships to drive increased attach rates of our products, while developing a pipeline focused around new distribution and installation opportunities. - (15%) Organizational support (marketing, product, finance, etc): Provide sales and marketing management with accurate, timely information on forecasts, product trends, and developments in your specific market. Manage local customer events & shows to drive brand awareness. Utilize SFDC to manage opportunity pipeline while maintain account information. - Achieve sales objectives - Execute marketing strategies including new product launches and program changes - Create a unique business value through a consultative sales approach - Cultivate existing distribution partners by providing a local presence to ensure partner needs are met - Execute distributor / dealer sales and technical training to directly support assigned territory - Serve as the local liaison to the core field sales organization in the training and sales support of Residential Access Solution products in traditional sales / builder channels. - Drive pull-through sales opportunities by developing relationships with Security/CEDIA dealer installers - Facilitate the communication of key input from channel customers into business product strategies - Represents Spectrum Hardware and Home Improvement in tradeshows and other industry association events - Assist with merchandising and promotion strategies - Manages territorial expenses and T & E budget to plan - Travels at least 75% of time - Individual quota driven contributor accountable for sales and profitability within assigned territory Education and Experience Profile - Bachelor's degree preferred - Five years technical sales experience. Three years technical sales experience within Security and/or CEDIA channels Required Skills - Strategic Thinking and Planning capability and experience. - Security and/or CEDIA industry product knowledge extremely desirable, but not required. - Excellent presentation and negotiating skills. - Must be computer literate and proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point. - Business / Financial acumen. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Team player who values the ideas and opinions of others. - Excellent problem solving skills. - High level of personal motivation and initiative. - Self-assured and presents a positive image Work Environment Must work from a home based office - 75%+ travel required, primarily auto - Must have flexibility for overnight travel The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this job/classification.
