The Instructional Design Manager will lead the development, design, and maintenance of learning solutions for leaders at dexcom. This position will report into a director level and may have direct reports and responsibility for matrix managing their assigned team. They will participate in global, cross-functional initiatives to ensure successful learning content development and deployment. A successful manager will regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training curriculum by creating and implementing measures to track outcomes and ensure alignment to business objectives. This manager will build and maintain trust and credibility with internal stakeholders and team members while leveraging strong project management, time management, & problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops course descriptions, learning models and training programs utilizing information from subject matter experts to deliver effective leadership training and on-going competency development.

  • Triage and assess functional training projects and make suggestions to project planning, scheduling and feasibility

  • Support maintenance of all learning content in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment

  • Contribute to the development of strategic plan(s) to include the development of content for all training from new hire training to advanced training for live training and virtual

  • Coach and mentor matrix team and provide direction to trainees and other stakeholders while creating a positive and motivating environment

  • Work with cross functional teams, including Marketing, Professional Medical Education and Global Commercial Operations in the creation and implementation of long-term training plans to ensure business goals are being achieved

  • Utilize selling model and work with Field Sales Leadership and Director Sales Training to design coaching workshops and custom Field Coaching Reports that reinforce key strategic imperatives

  • Apply standard business procedures to training design, including: SOPs, ICH, Global Regulations, Ethics and Compliance

    • Leverage best practices, design ideas, and technologies for all blended learning methods

    • Incorporate adult learning principles and cutting-edge learning methods & technology that drive continuous improvement

    • Re-purpose assets whenever possible to ensure efficiency

    • Implement established life-cycle management of learning assets

    • Collaborate with Instructional Design Manager to ensure content on the LMS supports the training and corporate strategies

    • Provide ongoing communications regarding the training programs and initiatives throughout the organization

    • Regularly research and incorporate new and relevant training approaches and industry best practices to create and maintain a best in class program

      • Work with Field Sales Leadership and Field Sales Management to determine specific metrics and measurements to assess the success of training activities for new people managers

        Experience and Education Requirements:

        • Bachelors Degree in Instructional Technology, Multi-Media, Organizational Design or related field

        • 8-12 years of industry experience. At this level, a graduate degree may be desirable with 4 years of related experience

        • Facilitation experience with audiences of all sizes

        • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.

        • Working knowledge of implmenting adult learning principles and effective learning techniques

        • Bio-pharma training experience, Facilitation Skills, PowerPoint/Writing skillsProficiency in LMS systems and requirements for adherence to industry standards for SCORM/ xAPI, etc

        • Proficiency in eLearning technology and authoring tools such as Articulate 360, MS Office Suite, and Smart PDF tools

        • Working knowledge of metrics and analytics for learning effectiveness

        • Comfort with ambiguity; manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

        • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

        • Ability to build and maintain trust and credibility with internal stakeholders and team members

        • Strong project management, time management, & problem-solving skills

        • Demonstrated ability to lead without authority

        • Strong facilitation skills with experience training large groups as well as one-one instruction

          Preferred Qualifications:

          • Professional affiliations (ADT, SPBT, etc.)

          • Advanced degree in Instructional Technology, Multi-media, Organizational Design or similar discipline

          • Pharmaceutical/Biotech/Medical Device experience

          • Working knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript)

          • Working knowledge in video production (e.g. Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier Pro, etc)

          • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

          • Working knowledge in Qualtrics, Tableau, & IBM SPSS

            Travel Required:

            • 10 25 %

              Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
