**This job posting closes on 12/15/2021** Job Title: COVID-19 Medical Assistant Department: MedicalReports To: COVID-19 Program ManagerFLSA Status: Non- ExemptJob Function: ClinicalClassification: Regular, Full-time (40 hours/week)Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm)Location: Valley Center (Rincon) and Santa Ysabel, CAFunding: Grant (end date is 6/30/2022) Benefits: Eligible for benefits on date of hire. Low employee contribution for PPO Medical, DPPO Dental, Vision. 403B retirement plan, generous PTO & sick time, 13 paid holidays annually, Employee birthday paid day off; company paid life, AD&D, short term and long-term disability, corporate discount programs, bereavement and jury duty paid time off *This is a grant funded position with an end date of 06/30/2022 SUMMARYAs part of the COVID-19 team, this frontline position participates in all COVID-19 activities to include testing, vaccination and screening. This position will be based in Rincon (Valley Center) with occasional rotation to our satellite facility in Santa Ysabel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.COVID-19 TESTING1. Performs COVID-19 testing. 2. Collect COVID-19 testing samples.3. Assists patients as needed to and from the waiting area.4. Assures confidentiality of patient information and medical records.5. Prepares lab requisitions for prescribed or stat lab samples according to laboratory destination.6. Labels appropriately, prepare and store lab samples in accordance with required laboratory specifications.7. Ensures collection of lab specimens by appropriate lab courier.8. Ensures that all spills are immediately documented according to established policies. 9. Maintains environmental integrity and aesthetics ensuring all areas are safe and clean.10. Prepares and organize supplies, and equipment including PPE to ensure maximum utilization.11. Implement standing orders. 12. Maintenance of test site(s) including set-up and clean-up.13. Gathering needed supplies and transporting to testing locations.14. Must adhere to all established PPE standards for testing location. 15. Must adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.16. Contact patients with COVID-19 test results using our approved script. 17. Complete Comorbidity Reports.18. Adjusts approach to patients appropriately using culturally sensitive practices.19. Models appropriate health and safety behaviors such as physical distancing, use of face coverings and hand hygiene.20. Maintains accurate records.21. Maintains infection control standards at all times per organization policy.22. Rotate to Santa Ysabel clinic as needed.23. Other related duties as assigned.COVID-19 VACCINE 1. Completes COVID-19 vaccine trainings and ongoing trainings.2. Performs COVID-19 vaccinations as needed. 3. Observes and assists patients as needed before and after administration of the vaccine. 4. Implementing standing orders. 5. Vaccination site maintenance including set-up and clean-up of vaccination sites.6. Gathering needed supplies and transporting to designated vaccination areas.7. Assists with phone triage regarding COVID-19 vaccination.COVID-19 SCREENING 1. Will back up screener on as-needed basis.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.TRAVEL & DRIVING REQUIREMENTSTravel and driving are not required for this position.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:--- Must be a graduate of a vocational or technical college in medical assisting. --- Prefer 6 months of COVID-19 testing experience.--- COVID-19 vaccine administering experience preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGULATIONS --- Medical Assistant certificate.--- A valid CA driver's license and good driving record is a required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. --- Current CPR certification or attain within 6 months of hire. --- Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, tuberculin skin test or x-ray and urine drug screen test to include marijuana. Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position. --- Must pass a criminal background check. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES--- Knowledge of related medical terminology. --- Knowledge of appropriate COVID-19 safety protocols for PPE, testing and hygiene.--- Skilled in putting patients at ease and in patient education.--- Ability to get along with all members of the COVID-19 team, other staff, and patients.--- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities with a calm and professional demeanor.TECHNOLOGY SKILLS Must be proficient in the following:--- Productivity Software: Microsoft Office 365; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email & Calendar Management (outlook), Teams (video conferencing and meetings), and Share Point. --- Electronic health records software (NextGen preferred).--- Utilization of Relias Learning, ADP and PolicyTech systems.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Possess adequate written and oral language skills to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to respond appropriately to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to create and deliver effective presentations to public groups, peer groups and/or leadership. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to apply critical thinking skills to problem solve.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
