UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011.The Acute Dialysis RN is responsible for overseeing the care of multiple dialysis patients, ensuring correct prescriptions are followed, medications given, required pre- and post-dialysis nursing assessments are performed, collaborating with all members of the interdisciplinary dialysis team. Provides dialytic therapies to a wide variety of patient populations at multiple locations including Hillcrest, Thornton, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, Jacobs, and the San Diego County Jail unit. The RN monitors compliance for infection control, and all regulatory interventions as outlined in the conditions for coverage.Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
• Minimum two years of acute dialysis RN experience.
• One year of dialysis experience in a hospital setting.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to work within a team environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • ACLS and/or ART.
  • Critical care experience.
  • Minimum one year of Peritoneal, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and Apheresis RN experience.SPECIAL CONDITIONS
    • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
    • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
    • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
      Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
      
      If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
