and supportive workplace.The Clinical Pharmacist II will work at
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, serving central and downtown San
Diego. With a Level I Trauma Center,STEMI receiving center,
Certified Stroke Center, the team at Mercy San Diego thrives in a
fast-paced environment and prides itself in its efficiency and
teamwork.Responsibilities include:
- Provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established
by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients.
- Participates in medical Rounds with internal medicine teams
along with multidisciplinary huddles on the floor
- Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for
appropriateness, safety, and cost.
- Documents the care provided to patients.
- Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for
assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.
- Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients
regarding drug therapy.
- Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the
cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.
- Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as
established for area and job title.
- Primarily clinical based practice; demonstrates ability to
perform competencies and prescriptive authorities as approved by
the medical staff.

- Performs all clinical pharmacy activities and oversees clinical
activities of clinical pharmacists in training.
- Precepts students during the IPPE and APPE rotations and
pharmacy -residents. -This is a full-time position with varied
shifts (primarily days and evenings with occasional nights), at
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego in Hillcrest. -Includes $9,000
retention incentive and $3,000 relocation assistance to eligible
new hires. -This position is on our Medical/ Surgical satellite.The
following are not eligible for hiring incentives:
- Internal candidates
- Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years agoIn order to
remain eligible for your retention incentive the following
-criteria must be met:
- Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if
specified in offer -letter)
- Must remain in original department/specialty
- Must remain in original Job Title
- Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case
basis and -may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus
unless specifically noted -in your offer letter.Required
Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
- PGY1 residency or 3 years' experience in relevant area of
clinical pharmacy practice. Required
Certification/Registration:
- California Pharmacist License
- AHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications
required prior to being trained to respond to codes
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other nationally
recognized certification required within 2 years' of hire.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized
Skills/Certification:
- Experience in a health system pharmacy enterprise
- Teaching certificate
- Experience precepting students and/or residents.
