Wellness Director is responsible for the overall supervision and
operation of the Health and Wellness Department. Demonstrates and
abides by the Company Core Values and the operating
principlesSupervises center health and wellness servicesAdheres to
the departmental budget.Active in Center/Company Leadership
programConducts center needs health/wellness assessments; plans and
coordinates services and programs that respond to identified
student needsProvides health and wellness assessments and
screening, nursing interventions, emergency care, education and
referral services in conjunction with health and wellness staff and
health subcontractorsOrders and maintains current dated
pharmaceuticals and clinic supplies. Ensures that assigned staff
perform monthly inventories of supplies to include expiration
dates. Monitors and ensures the proper storage and condition of
supplies and specimensInitiates worker's compensation documentation
and maintains secondary OSHA logs. Performs follow-up surveillance
of worker's compensation casesPerforms physical and emotional
wellness assessments. Establishes individualized student health and
wellness plans according to protocol outlined in the center's
Health Standing OrdersDocuments each encounter with students in
their respective student health recordsWorks closely with
counselors, residential staff and medical trade instructors in
providing wellness education to studentsInterprets all expected
outcomes, policies and procedures outlined in the PRH and Federal
Register pertinent to the center's Health and Wellness Department.
Ensures that appropriate center operating directives are written
and implementedAssists Counselors, Resident Advisors and Health
Education Instructors in providing health education to
studentsPerforms health records and quality assurance auditsEnsures
the reporting of all communicable diseases, child abuse cases, etc.
as mandated by state and county regulationsEnsures the proper
storage, handling and disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the
health and wellness centerEnsures that the proper protocol is
followed for infection control. Ensures the proper handling of
specimens and equipment, as well as the appropriate sterilization
of equipmentConducts in-service staff training sessionsMay train
students and staff in CPR, first aid and water safetyResponsible
for ensuring that departmental equal employment and affirmative
action goals and objectives are metInterviews and selects
staffPrepares and conducts performance evaluationsAttends required
staff training sessionsAssigns and participates in on-call support
for all student medical related needs during off hours.Responsible
for Student Satisfaction related to the Wellness DepartmentPerforms
other duties as assigned Minimum: Licensed by State as a Registered
Nurse. Three years experience as a practicing nurse, one of which
was in a lead or supervisory capacity. Preferred: Four or more
years of experienceKnowledge Required:Strong working knowledge of
nursing techniques/procedures. Excellent communication skills, both
oral and written. Familiarity with medical needs of disadvantaged
youth. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certificates. Sound
management techniques. Ability to handle multiple priorities.
