The position requires working four 10-hour shifts per week with flexibility. Schedule to be determined and requires some weekend availability.Our compensation for this role depends on skillset, experience, licensure and typically falls between $16.30--and $33.00--plus--on-call pay and bonus.Veterinary Assistant: $16.30 - $26.00Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT): $24.00 - $33.00Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH)--is looking for a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician to work as a Blood Bank Coordinator and ECC/Patient Care Float.About Veterinary Specialty Hospital:--As the only VECCS Level I Trauma Center in San Diego County, our ECC department is committed to caring for the veterinary trauma patient and is equipped to expertly manage all types of traumatic injuries in our state-of-the-art facility. Our ECC nursing staff are an integral part of providing this level of care along with our 3 board certified criticalists, ECC residents, and experienced ER clinicians. These resources allow for an environment of continual learning and advanced skill development for all the members of our ECC team at VSH.--About the Role:--As a Blood Bank/Float Technician your responsibilities will include:Perform blood collection of donor petsProviding outstanding client communication and educationMaintaining general cleanliness of blood bank area, including: maintaining runs, processing equipmentManaging donations, including properly setting up with appropriate instruments and providing donors with treats and meals after their donationsEnsuring that blood products are being processed in as aseptic a manner, while maintaining the highest level of accuracy in all calculations and labelingPreparing products for shipping and delivery when needed, keeping detailed documentationPerforming other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:-- intravenous catheter placement, drug dose calculation, venipuncture, blood pressure reading, acquiring radiographs and hourly treatments.-- Will assist other departments as needed.----About You:Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician/Assistant in an animal hospital setting required.Currently licensed as RVT in the state of California (or will be within 6 months of hire)Proficiency in venipuncture, processing basic laboratory specimens and medical terminology required.Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and communityExcellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expectedDemonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in all related blood bank duties--Benefits of Working at VSH:Full-time benefits include pet insurance, health, dental, vision, disability and life insurances, flex-spending accounts, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program, paid time off, uniforms, and a CE allowanceEthos is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
