SUMMARY
Responsible for diagnosing, treating, and prescribing medications
for clients having psychiatric mental health problems and those
likely to have them.-- Special focus on the treatment of opioid use
disorder with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) with
buprenorphine and working with the SUD counselors and staff
associated with the TOR, MAT-PDOA and other grant programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for providing outpatient care to clients showing change
or decline in mental status, chronic or urgent psychiatric
conditions
Work independently with other members of the Behavioral Health team
as well as taking part in an interdisciplinary team that provides
Medication Assisted Treatment to clients with Opioid Use
Disorder
Perform client histories and physicals, risk factor assessment,
ordering of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and attend to
consultations and appointments
Prescribe medications following the policy and formulary of IHC and
consistent with regulations of the State of California
Consult with psychiatrists and medical healthcare providers on
cases that are beyond the scope of qualifications of a PMHNP
Put all relevant data in electronic health records and case
presentations as appropriate
Formulate, execute and review healthcare education delivered to
clients and families for disease prevention as well as educating
staff to improve quality of customer service
Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals at IHC
as well as those at outside agencies collaborating in the delivery
of services to clients
Serve in role as co-director of the IHC MAT-PDOA program and work
in concert with the Clinical MAT Coordinator in the Medical
Department to fulfill grant commitments as per SAMHSA
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:--
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL & DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
Travel and driving are not required for this position but may be
indicated for the administration of services under the ROAM grant
to tribal communities off site from IHC.
--QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's or Doctoral degree in psychiatric-mental health
nursing
1-2 years related experience
Experience in the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) with
MAT
Certificates, Licenses and Regulations
Current, active and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner's
license
Maintain certification from the American Nurses Credentialing
Center (ANCC)
DATA-2000 Waivered buprenorphine provider, preferably already
waivered but if not, willing to get waivered within first 90 days
of employment.
A valid California driver's license and a good driving record will
be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained
throughout employment.
Current CPR certification or attain within 6 months of hire.
Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam,
tuberculin skin test or x-ray and urine drug screen test (to
include marijuana). Health must be adequate to perform all duties
of the position.
Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide
proof of vaccination.
Must pass background check.

compassionate and sensitive interpersonal interactions
------Ability to solve problems, monitor and examine clients
------Ability to work effectively with medical equipment, including
blood pressure machine, EKG machine and defibrillators
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS--
Must be proficient in the following:
Productivity Software: Microsoft Office 365; Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Email & Calendar Management (outlook), Teams (video
conferencing and meetings), and Share Point.
Electronic health records software (NextGen preferred).
Utilization of Paycom, Relias Learning, and PolicyTech systems.
