Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist / Polysomnographer Location: VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) 11301 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90073 Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM or 8:00 PM 4:30 AM No overtime, weekends, or holiday work Includes two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute meal break Duration: 12 months (optional extension) Positions Available: 4 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Job Overview: The Registered Respiratory Therapist / Polysomnographer will support the Medical Service Respiratory Section of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. These professionals will provide respiratory and sleep diagnostics services, ensuring patient care quality, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Conduct sleep studies including EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, and oximetry Administer therapeutic procedures using medical gases, humidifiers, and inhaled medications Assist in intubation and manage mechanical ventilators and modes Perform chest physiotherapy and postural drainage Provide CPR and respond to Rapid Response Calls Set up CPAP, APAP, and BIPAP systems Educate patients and families Perform arterial punctures and recognize critical medical needs Execute split-night studies and full-night polysomnography Maintain detailed patient records and logs Score sleep studies manually and electronically Work under direction of Chiefs of Pulmonary and Critical Care, and Respiratory Therapy Qualifications: Respiratory Therapist Education: Accredited Respiratory Therapy (RT) program Experience: Minimum 2 years RT, with 1 year in critical care Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC Licensure: Respiratory Care Board of California References: 3 professional references Polysomnographer Education: Accredited Sleep Program Experience: 2 years of Polysomnography experience Certification: RPSGT (BRPT) or RST (AASM) Licensure: Medical Board of California References: 3 professional references Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Mandatory Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred Prime Physicians is a physician-led, The Joint Commission (TJC) Accredited, ISO 9001 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised organization.
