Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a
Labor & Delivery position in California requiring a CA RN license,
night shifts, and advanced fetal monitoring certifications.
Responsibilities - Position is in the Labor & Delivery unit of an
acute care hospital - Unit features 14 labor and delivery beds and
2 OR suites located on the postpartum side - Patients include
laboring, inductions, cesareans, antepartum cases, fetal demises,
and triage patients 20 weeks gestation or greater - Average of 3-4
births per day, with approximately 1,100 births per year - Ratios
follow AWHONN guidelines - RNs are required to titrate drips such
as Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium - Pulse oximetry used routinely
and electronic fetal monitoring with Fetal Link system and Cerner
EMR - 12-hour night shifts, working three shifts per week - Every
other weekend required - One on-call shift required every two weeks
- No floating required for this unit - Scrubs are light blue and
provided on each shift - RNs provide care and monitoring to
laboring and high-risk pregnant patients including triage and
management of fetal demise - There is an OB tech on the unit and a
charge nurse available for support - OB/Neonatologist in-house
availability is 24/7 - Orientation is one day with a pass/fail test
on sterile technique and medication administration required -
Holiday coverage required: one major and two minor holidays per
assignment - Dress code requires light blue scrubs provided by the
facility - Former employees of CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within
the past year are not eligible - RNs must pass the Relias
Dysrhythmia exam before an offer is confirmed - First-time
travelers are considered for this role Requirements - Active CA RN
license required at the time of consideration - Minimum 2 years of
current Labor & Delivery nursing experience - Certifications
required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring -
Experience with titrating drips in Labor & Delivery such as
Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium - Cerner EMR experience preferred -
Two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months
and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years - Copy of driver’s
