Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced
ICU RN with an active CA license, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
certification for a 13-week acute care assignment. Responsibilities
- Work in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of an acute care hospital -
Patient population includes cardiac, sepsis, stroke, CABG, balloon
pumps, cath lab recovery, general medical and surgical ICU patients
- ICU has 36 active beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1
- Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR system - Required to work 12-hour day
shifts (0645-1915) with every other weekend (Friday, Saturday,
Sunday) and holiday coverage - Required to float to Telemetry and
ER for ICU hold patients - Supports hardwired GE monitors, routine
use of vasopressor, nitro, and heparin drips, as well as
ventilators - Unit features 24/7 hospitalist or intensivist, RT,
and pharmacy coverage - Expected to provide compassionate,
competent critical care and contribute to high patient satisfaction
- Travelers will not be assigned fresh open heart surgery or
craniotomy cases - No nurse aides on unit; support from unit tech
for secretarial duties and equipment - One day orientation on ICU
and one shift on Telemetry/stepdown unit provided - Required to
participate in holiday staffing rotation alongside permanent staff
- Navy blue scrubs required - First time travelers will be
considered - Past employees of CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity are
not eligible if employed within the last year in any capacity
Requirements - Active CA RN license required at time of
consideration; pending license not accepted - Minimum 2 years of
recent ICU experience in a large institution or 3 years total ICU
experience - Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required -
CCRN preferred but not required - Experience with Cerner EMR
preferred - Must provide two references: one supervisor reference
from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from
the last 3 years - Copy of driver’s license required for
