Job Description: Objective: The Medical Assistant supports
physicians, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and staff in coordinating the
needs of patients. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Ensure
patient satisfaction by providing excellent patients services.
Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring
attitude. Rooms patients, accurately collect and records patients’
vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns. Prepares
exam rooms, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping
the rooms neat and clean. Effectively assists with prescriptions
and authorizing drug refill requests. Triage messages, routes and
relays information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely
manner. Maintains detailed notes in patients’ electronic records.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality for patients in
accordance to HIPAA standards. Effectively maintains a professional
demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times. Back up
infusion room medical assistant duties. Effectively performs other
duties as assigned Pay range for this position is $21.00-$24.00 per
hour. Experience, Qualifications, Education High School Diploma or
equivalent required Medical Assistant Certificate from an
accredited education institution Current CPR certification required
California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license Four years
of work experience in venipuncture Must comply with OSHA, HIPAA,
and office policies and protocols. Knowledge of computer/telephony
support, preferably in a health care environment Strong customer
service background, preferably in health care environment Excellent
verbal communication skills Competence with computer processing
functions and other standard office equipment Ability to manage and
prioritize multiple tasks Ability to calmly and professionally
resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact Ability to work
independently with minimal supervision Strong organizational skills
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and
written communication skills. Proficiency in computer processing
functions and other standard office equipment. Ability to
effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to calmly
and professionally resolve issues with diplomacy and tact. Ability
to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong
organizational skills. Visual acuity to read a computer screen and
paper documents; close and distance vision, peripheral vision depth
perception, ability to adjust focus. Hearing acuity to converse
with staff and customers in person and by phone. ability to stoop,
bend, kneel, reach with hands, and lift and move 10 pounds on a
regular basis, and up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to sit for
hours at a time.
