(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Laboratory Management/Supervisor - Laboratory Manager:We're looking for an experienced CLS with recent generalist and management experience to run our satellite Lab in San Diego.Requires understanding of CLIA and CAP regulations, Quality Management Systems, and Westgard Multirule QC management. The position will oversee 2 CLS and 4 lab assistants. The job will be M-F 8am to 5pm with oncall weekends. Requires 20% to our parent laband management oversight of a small stat lab CA.Summary:The laboratory manager, under the functional direction of the laboratory director, provides day-to-day supervision of testing personnel and reporting of test results.The laboratory manager resolves technical problems and takes remedial action whenever results deviate from the laboratorys established policy.TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise high and moderate complexity testing performed by qualified CLSs.Review all departments preventive maintenance (PM) logs and quality control records, as maintained by lead CLSs in each department, on a monthly basis, ensuring, by spot checks if necessary, that all PM activities are performed, that all control specimens are analyzed and analytical systems shown to be functioning before patient reports are released, and that standard remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratorys performance specifications.Establish and operate intra-laboratory specimen management systems to minimize pre-analytic sources of variation, including accessioning, specimen processing, and specimen retention and recovery policies and procedures.Provide technical consultation to the Sr. Vice President, Laboratory Services to ensure recruitment and retention of qualified licensed phlebotomists, provide ongoing continuing education to phlebotomists, optimize courier routes and specimen processing stations, and provide consultation to nursing personnel at post-acute care centers (client sites) regarding specimen collection protocols.Maintain a working knowledge of laboratory quality systems, and continuously support CLSs and lab assistants in their understanding of how each employees duties fit within the context of high quality (accurate, timely) results and organizational learning and improvement.Ensure that competency evaluations are performed annually for all laboratory personnel, and that new employees receive a thorough orientation, training, and a six-month competency evaluation.Work with lead CLSs to optimize reagent and consumables purchases, maintain appropriate inventory, and avoid special orders and outdated inventory.Work with the Laboratory Director to ensure that new analytical instruments, before being placed into service, have a well-documented calibration and methods comparison process, and that results reflect both manufacturers specifications and are relevant to the population being tested.Create audit mechanisms to ensure that analytical process occurrences (QC failures, PM deficiencies, and special testing audits such as false positive blood cultures or chemistry results suggestive of processing errors) feed into a laboratory-wide occurrence management system designed to reduce defects.Contribute to the development and updating of laboratory procedure manuals.SKILLS-EXPERIENCE:Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in medical technology, microbiology chemistry, biology or related field.Possession of Clinical Laboratory Scientists license issued by the State of California or equivalent license approved by LFS (Laboratory Field Services).Must have at least six (6) years experience (combined testing and supervisory experience) in a high complexity clinical laboratory, with evidence of increasing supervisory responsibility.Must have relevant testing and supervisory experience must include one year experience EACH in any TWO of the following laboratory specialties: chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology.Must have a working knowledge of and facility with:quality improvement processes and quality systemslaboratory information systemsbasic supervisory skills and standard human resources policies and procedures (interviewing, counseling, annual performance review, performance evaluation development and deployment, termination)new instrumentation evaluation and acquisition; reagent purchasing and inventoryoccurrence management practices and use in internal audit; continuous quality improvementfacilities and safety policies and proceduresJob Added: 10/14/2016
