experienced Principal Engineer Software - Embedded to join our team
of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in
San Diego, CA.Candidates will work on software supporting various
space, aircraft, and ground systems in all phases of the software
development lifecycle including design, development and test.
Candidates will work on software systems primarily in C/C++
development, with a focus toward embedded design.Essential
Functions:- Develop new software modules supporting cutting edge
technology.- Ensure software quality through unit testing.- Support
software integration and system testing.- Assist in system design
and troubleshooting.- Identify and implement software bug fixes.-
Update and maintain software documentation.The selected candidate
should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high
expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team
settings across all levels. Candidate will support both development
and lab environments, and learn to collaborate with system
engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
(Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) - Understanding of
formal software life cycle development methodologies, requirements
through test.- Experience with Agile development methodologies-
Ability to acquire a DOD Secret clearance or higherPreferred
Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer
Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.-
Experience developing with the VxWorks Real Time Operating System.-
Active DoD SECRET clearance or higherGood understanding of C/C++
including templates and memory storage.Understanding of RTOS
environments and operating characteristics, such as: WindRiver,
GreenHills, or RedhawkUnderstanding SW architecture such
as:Software/hardware interfaces and where they exist in the
architectureEvent driven (Interrupts), polling and synchronous
software architecturesLayered software architectures (e.g.
Application, System, Device)Familiarity with Built-In Test and
fault and event responsesFamiliarity HW I/O interfaces such as:
RS-232, 429, 1553, Discrete & Analog I/OFamiliarity with the
concept of exception handling and what causes themFamiliarity with
test/debug tools, such as:Wireshark, TCPDump, Oscilloscopes,
JTAG/ICE, FireSpy, AltaDT bus monitors,Understanding of python
language and commonly used modules.Understanding of how to write
support scripts to aid in test automation.Familiarity with static
analysis tools.Understanding of differences between a desktop vs.
target build configuration, and the limitations of each.Familiarity
with System, Subsystem, and SW requirementsFamiliarity of Cyber
impacts to and executing in an RTOS.Salary Range: $68,100.00 -
$102,100.00Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in
addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward
individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in
company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions
may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop
