internal technologists and engineers through community building.
Your role is to be the bridge between the engineers and leadership.
As the voice of the ecosystem, you'll gather real-world feedback
and drive change based on the needs of our engineers. Using your
technical expertise, communication, and facilitation skills you'll
meet with engineers one-on-one and in groups to hold retrospectives
and listen to their feedback about their engineering experience at
Optum. In addition to advocacy, Engineering Advocates are
responsible for executing on our technical content strategy to
produce tutorials, sample apps, blog posts, videos, and more to
inspire and empower our engineers. You'll enjoy the flexibility to
telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some
tough challenges. - - Primary Responsibilities: -
- Be an active learner developing expertise in a variety of
different technologies so you can bring the knowledge to the
engineering workforce
- Be the "Voice of the Engineer" by championing engineers within
the Optum Product and Engineering teams and senior leadership,
translating engineer feedback into action plans using qualitative
and quantitative research as input
- Engage directly with engineers in the Optum engineering
Community
- Does proactive and reactive one-one-one and group outreach with
engineers to get feedback and improve the engineering
experience
- Scopes and builds sample apps, guides, videos, and Engineer
Blog posts with minimal guidance, producing code and content that
is accessibly written for a well-defined audience
- Contribute to the direction of our engineering content strategy
with your industry experience, relationships, and knowledge of
engineering best practices and concepts
- Using your subject matter expertise, evangelize the new
technologies and concepts, as well as inner-source products, by
presenting at town halls, webinars and other events
- Grow and develop the success of the Optum engineer experience
finding innovative ways to create additional awareness and momentum
Mentor new teammates, as needed You'll be rewarded and recognized
for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and
give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role
as well as provide development for other roles you may be
interested in. - Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years related professional experience -
- 3+ years experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- 2+ years with CI/CD tools and processes
- 2+ years of experience with at least one server-side scripting
language -
- 2+ years of communicating with and influencing both technical
and non-technical audiences
- 1+ years of experience with API development and front-end
development tools; capable of performing, testing, and debugging
requests - Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
experience
- 1+ years of experience with event driven architecture and
technologies
- 1+ years of experience with distributed data stores at
scale
- 2+ years Agiles/Scrum experience
- Proactively initiates contributions to team or company goals
and implements solutions with minimal direction from others. -

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range
for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for
Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based
on several factors including but not limited to education, work
experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary,
UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive

purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to
