Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the IT Operations Manager, the Senior Systems Administrator provides technical support to all Information Technology (IT) datacenter functions including physical and virtual servers, Active Directory, enterprise messaging, storage area network (SAN) and backup infrastructure among others. This includes, but is not limited to, the design, installation and documentation of Active Directory, SAN, Servers, Exchange and enterprise backup and replication. As well as being responsible for ensuring system integrity through routine preventative maintenance.The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing and executing processes and procedures in order to ensure maximum uptime for the organization. Must have a solid understanding of both the datacenter environment itself and the equipment that is utilized including servers, storage, event monitoring, systems management, blade server implementations as well as change management and disk based backups. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:What Senior Systems Administrators Are Responsible for:Essential FunctionsResponsible for installation, maintenance, security, monitoring and troubleshooting of Windows desktops and serversEvaluate software/hardware requirements, analyze server capabilities, recommend optimum server configurationsPlanning, designing and implementing Active Directory group policiesManage and maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi environmentManage and maintain Commvault Backup and ReplicationWork with other IT personnel to support System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)Work with vendors to facilitate purchasing and warranty coverage of hardware and softwareResearch and stay current with all applicable technologies and architect changes as requiredProfessional ResponsibilitiesMentor other IT system administrators and train non-IT staff members as requiredAssist with or lead/supervise technology projects relevant to positionMaintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with all data and personnelMaintain a high level of attention to detail, proactive assertiveness and enthusiasmAttend a variety of meetings, conferences and workshops as requiredDuties May Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following:Performs other duties as assigned.What MTS Is Looking For:Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAdvanced working knowledge of administering the following core systems is requiredVMware vSphere and ESXiServer hardware and RAID arraysMicrosoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)Microsoft Exchange ServerMicrosoft Windows ServerMicrosoft Active DirectoryMicrosoft Group PolicyPersonal computer hardware including desktops, laptops and other handheld devicesStrong understanding of the following systems and technologies is desiredMicrosoft System Center Configuration Manager or equivalent platformsMicrosoft SQL Server or equivalent RDBMS platformsLAN routing and switching and associated network protocolsWireless infrastructure hardware and protocols used in enterprise wireless environmentsFirewalls and standard network security protocolsPhysical RequirementsCandidates must be able to perform the physical demands of the job, such as walking, bending, stooping, sitting, reaching for overhead files and occasional lifting (must be able to lift up to 50 pounds). Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as use of a computer and 10-key. Work may at times require more than 8 hours per day and/or irregular hours to perform the essential duties of the position. Duties will be performed primarily in an office type environment. May require travel to external agencies.Experience/Education/Certificates/License(s)Seven (7) years of experience in virtualization and datacenter administration supporting and managing virtualization infrastructure, to include enterprise-class hardware.Extensive background in enterprise storage and network virtualization.Bachelor's degree in computer science (preferred) or equivalent experience.Be self-driven, motivated to help, and able to perform with minimal supervision in a team environment.Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.GENERAL:Must satisfactorily pass all applicable examinations including, but not limited to, a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.SALARY RANGE:#10 ($74,148 - $137,828)DISCLAIMER: The above described job elements are intended to indicate the general nature and levels of work being performed by employees assigned to the job.
