DESCRIPTION The Moores Cancer Center (MCC) is one of just 53 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States and the only one in San Diego County. As a consortium cancer center, it is a collaborative partnership between the UCSD: encompassing 28 departments, 6 schools (School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Public Health, Jacobs School of Engineering, School of Biological Sciences & the School of Physical Sciences), UCSD Health oncology hospitals and clinics; the basic and public health research and outreach of San Diego State University (SDSU), and the basic and translational research of the La Jolla Institute of Immunology (LJI). The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at UCSD's Moores Cancer Center administers many clinical trials on behalf of its member investigators, including trials sponsored by National Cancer Institute cooperative groups, pharmaceutical companies, and physician investigators. This position will require participation in long-range goals for the Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office, with independent administrative responsibility for research and management of clinical research billing accounts, analyze budgets and bulk statements. Independently responsible for organizing and maintaining all billing files, tracking payments, tracking credits, and following up on outstanding issues. Develop internal reports to organize billing issues and reconcile accounts. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area.
  • Basic knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Acquiring ability to identify issues; analyze data; develop, recommend, and implement, solutions.
  • Acquiring ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency using spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proficiency using computer spreadsheets and database applications for report generation and analysis, with intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions. Experienced with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic interpersonal skills; broad service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Under management guidance, uses organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Knowledge of Patient Care Billing practices.
    • Experience reviewing budgets to verify Patient Care Charges. SPECIAL CONDITIONS
