Overview
With over 30 years in practice, one of the country's leading
architectural & interior design firms specializing in life
sciences, education, and workplace is actively seeking a Senior
Technical Designer/Job Captain to join their San Diego office. The
studio specializes in the design of laboratories, clean rooms,
manufacturing facilities, data centers, and high-performance
workplace environments, for clients working in the life sciences,
electronics, mission-critical, education, and medicine.
With 180+ staff, they provide programming, master planning,
building, and interior design services, including laboratory, cGMP,
and medical planning, to new and established companies,
institutions, developers, and healthcare providers. Office
locations include Mountain View, San Francisco, Sacramento, and San
Diego.
Role Requirements
A minimum of 10 years expertise in commercial architecture is
required (shell & core, corporate TI, life science/high-tech
laboratory design a plus). Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or
Design preferred. Will be assigned to one or more design teams and
will be responsible for the creation of architectural drawings
throughout all phases of a project.
Qualifications
Experience in coordinating activities associated with the design,
development, preparation, production, and control of project
documents from schematic design through construction administration
on highly complex projects.
Ability to perform building code analysis, define construction
document requirements, coordinate architectural and engineering
disciplines, create specifications, issue bid documents, and review
shop drawings.
Experience in monitoring quality of documents and leading/
mentoring daily technical related assignments.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work effectively on multiple small to medium projects,
to set priorities, and maintain schedules
Knowledge of architectural building and engineering systems.
Ability to prepare accurate technical documents, graphic
presentations and 3D renderings, with a focus on consistency and
quality.
Ability to work independently to solve complex design issues.
Ability to work constructively with entitlement agencies in
addition to all trades and relevant interested parties.
Proficiency with 2D/ 3D software desired, such as Illustrator,
Photoshop, InDesign and/or Sketch-Up
Must be proficient in Revit / Autodesk Building Design, along with
MS Office Suite
